UC Berkeley transfer - better odds Spring or Fall?

Just found out from a Junior college counselor that they messed up my credit calculations previously. (Last Summer, when I had been about to start working on my UC apps, I had been told that I wouldn’t have enough units to apply as a transfer in the Fall. Now they tell me they had forgotten to include my AP credits in the previous calculation.) So now I have a decision - rush and apply by 12/2 or stay on track to apply in the Spring?

My goal is to be a Sociology major at UC Berkeley. (I’m at BCC currently and absolutely love the city.) It’s more important to me to get into Cal then to start a semester early. But I don’t know if it’s easier to get in in the Fall or in the Spring. I believe my application will be marginally stronger in the Spring (more time for essay, slightly higher GPA). But are there more Junior transfer spots in the Fall and do my odds of getting in actually go down in the Spring, even with a slightly stronger application?

UC Berkeley only accepts Fall Transfers but may defer some Transfers for Spring. You cannot apply specifically for Spring admission so you need to apply by December 2.

For applying to UC, be sure to count AP credit as specified in https://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/admission-requirements/ap-exam-credits/ap-credits/

For UCB specifically, see Berkeley | UC Admissions for division level subject credit (sociology is in the College of Letters and Science). The sociology major accepts AP statistics 4 for its statistics requirement, according to Major Requirements | UC Berkeley Sociology Department .

Note that this can be different from CSU or any other college you may apply to transfer to.
