@choukevin I submitted my SIR today to try to get on the housing list asap, I’m still waiting on USC, Princeton, Harvard, and Stanford. I don’t mind losing my $250 deposit if I get into one of the other Ivies since they meet full need. So unless I get into Harvard, Princeton, Stanford (which is literally a lottery), 99.9% sure i’ll be seeing you at Cal in the Fall.
@undergradstud1 Just straight facts about med school: national avg for undergrads accepted to med school 42-44%. UCLA 2014 records show 50% of the Bruins got accepted, 2017 CAL students avg 55.5%.

Sometimes you got take risk, earning a degree from Cal might teach you more than you can imagine and it might open a door to something you never thought existed. Good luck in all of your endeavors!
@bobovita hey! you probably know this already, but because the Econ major is so impacted, transfers have to declare during their first semester at Berkeley!
@bobovite Yeah I am in the same boat. Ill still declare Econ in the first semester but I will at least go for a CS minor.
If I will go to Cal, this is what I am planning to take in my first semester there:
1)something to fulfill stats requirement (still need to see what are the differences between those stats classes offered)
2) Econ101B-Economic Theory-Macro
3) CS61A-The Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs
4) ECON101A-Economic Theory-Micro or CS70-Discrete Mathematics and Probability Theory.
So I am planning on taking 4 classes in my first semester.
Hi all! A few questions:
-Have you gotten a physical letter in the mail from UC Berkeley regarding your admission status (for those who have gotten in?)
-Does anyone know if spring 2019 admits are still able to get on campus housing?
-How are you guys finding roommates for housing? Is there a Facebook group for transfers?
@GoldenState1 True, I should just take those classes just to be safe and guarantee that I will be able to declare my major. Good luck on those schools! I mean if you’ve already gotten into Columbia, obviously your app is stellar so I wouldn’t be that surprised if you got into another Ivy lol
Does anyone only have the Summer 2018 as the term option in the application section of the Housing portal? I’m trying to apply for housing but the only term option I’m getting is Summer 2018 and not Fall 2018.
Anyone else not able to setup their Calnet ID? Also, i accepted my offer but there wasnt an option to pay the $250 for me, not sure why…
When I am on CalCentral, it tells me on my students tasks to make a CalNet ID. When I click on the button that says Get CalNet ID, it takes me to CalNET and asks me to enter my CalNet ID and passphrase, but I do not have one! How do I make one or get my CalNet ID?
I tried to press forgot CalNet ID or passphrase and enter my student number to get a reset email, but it does not work. Please help!
wait hold up how do I make a calnet id???
Advice from a current student: CalCentral is not your friend. Tasks will take weeks or months to update or never update. Tasks will disappear and reappear at will. Your status will change from Freshman to Senior to Freshman to Junior to…
A friendly reminder, again, TAKE SCREENSHOTS. I had my Statement of Legal Residence show up late, my SIR get “lost” and erased, and it took months for my transcripts to be processed by the registrar.
Save yourself a lot of stress and wait for the coming communications from your college and advisors (you will have some “meetings” online sometime this summer before you register for classes) and try not to freak out at the varied and inaccurate information presented to you on CalCentral.
wait hold up how do I make a calnet id???
I click on the “Set up my CalNet ID” green button then it says “you are not allowed to view this page.” Tf
@ChavBruvSat I don’t see this green button. I’m on my map? is it because I haven’t accepted my offer yet?
@inspiredbysleep I believe so, and for some reason the deadline to do that is April 30.
@ChavBruvSat what??? the deadline to accept or the deadline to make a calnet id? it says I have until june 1st to accept my admissions offer
The deadline to make the calnet id
@ChavBruvSat dang. ok. should I just accept my offer? I’m like 99% sure I’m going to attend but still want to wait until I go visit…
@inspiredbysleep I would accept the offer. I too have yet to ever visit the campus. For some reason when I accepted my offer it didn’t ask me to pay any deposit.
@ChavBruvSat I wonder if I accept later if the deadline to make my calnet id would be later on? because I see no information of it. I’m going to give them a call on Monday. thanks for your help!
