@choukevin what email did you send the problem to? I feel like I’ve emailed a ton of ones but each one keeps redirecting me to a different department. I’ve also tried calling them but it’s been a week and nothing’s happened yet.
Really really late but I thought it’d be helpful for prospective transfers to just share a bit of my experience. I’m a one year transfer student and I applied to Berkeley LA and SB. I got rejected from LA and accepted to the other two. The only reason why I can think of is that LA wants IGETC/GE done while the other two don’t place as much emphasis or didn’t care in my case.
As far as Berkeley goes, I’d approach their transfer admissions process like I would a private in that you need to find something that makes you stand out, from the kind of extracurriculars you have to even the type of applicant you are. People with better resumes and better GPAs than mine got rejected or waitlisted by Berkeley from my college, and the only thing I can think of that I had over them was the fact that I was a one year transfer. My major, Econ, I’m pretty sure is impacted as well.
In the end, the admissions process is honestly up for grabs and intentionally unclear. Just do what you can to get an edge over thousands of other applicants and that’ll give you a better chance. While GPA is a factor, it’s really not an end all in Berkeley’s case.
Hi guys, do any of you guys know if Berkeley already sent out Regent Scholarship offers to transfer students? I just found out yesterday that I got the Regents Scholarship at UCLA and they’re giving me a hefty amount of money and perks, and although I already SIRed to Cal I may reconsider going to UCLA instead. I’ll see how it goes after I attend Bruin Day this weekend.
Does anyone know if Regent scholars are selected from the 4.0 students pool only?
Hey guys - Anybody on here accepted into the Astrophysics (or Physics) major? I’ve tried looking through this thread and last years transfer thread but I haven’t been able to find not one. Just curious to see what your profile when transferring looked like!
@dreamschool211 How’d you get a 4.0?
@woshua I honestly just studied my ass off. I selected the best professors thanks to ratemyprofessor.com lmao and prioritized my grades over anything else.

Can someone please help decipher the differences between Cal’s Media Studies and UCLA’s Comm studies? I am more familiar with UCLA’s Comm studies, I just would like to know more about Media Studies at Cal. What can a Media Studies degree at UCB do for me? What internships or opportunities are available?
@dreamschool211 I talked to media studies student advisor today and she told me to make use of the transfer and career center to get info on that. There’s also a class they offer (Film 178: film and media professions) that is catered to jobs in the Bay Area.
I went through the courses for each school, wrote what I have to take and other electives I found interesting and have them side by side to compare. I’m going to base my decision off what classes interest me most overall and who has the better housing offer. If you’re resourcesful, you’ll figure out a way to thrive no matter where you end up.
Anyone ever successfully appealed for Cal Econ?
Hey! Does anyone know if I can still drop a class even though it is passed May 10th. The form is still up and everything. I emailed my admissions officer, no response yet. I hope I can please help!
The admissions dept says that Regents recipients will be notified “sometime this month”, no specific date set.
Hi everyone, recently accepted to berkeley. Are we supposed to send in our official transcripts immediately now or do we wait until our final spring grades are posted?
Wait for the final transcript, with all your grades. That’s why the deadline is on the 1st of July.
Does anyone know if we need to submit high school transcript? I got confused because it is a requirement on condition admission but it does not show up on Cal Central
Given that it is a condition of admission, yes you need to submit a high school transcript. I submitted mine last week.
Anyone else here got in as a Spring 19 admit?
@marinazavala did anyone get any sort of email indicating that they are potential regents award winners? i have a 4.0 and got regents at UCSC but i havent heard anything from cal yet (besides the application to fill out the alumni scholarship)
