<p>Though I’m not sure I have the most reliable opinion, I would agree with you that those schools are “reaches.” If you had the grades you have now in freshman year then it would be almost definite. Don’t give up hope, I’d say, keep those grades up all year and keep practicing for the SAT’s come spring time. So yea, I would still apply to these schools, definitely, but make sure you have back up schools too. It seems a reasonable reach to apply I’d guess. <p>Yeah. my freshman year grades REALLY screwed me over. out of all those schools, Berkeley is my top choice… i know the UC’s dont count freshman grades so what about that school?</p>
<p>Your current GPA is not calc’d the way UC does it. First you should calculate your UC GPA; then compare that to accepted students posted on the UC pathways site.</p>
<p>I’ve calculated my UC GPA ( i don’t want to do it right now) But i remember it was somewhere aroudn 4.17-4.20. Berkeley’s avarage is 4.25 i believe. But still, even though my UC GPA maybe within their range my freshman grades might be the determing factor… and it they would make the admissions committee lean towards not accepting me :(… damn it, i’m being pessimistic</p>
<p>its a 4.80 becuase i’m only taking 5 classes at school, all of which are AP or honors (ap and honors at my school get one extra point A=5, B=4, C=3 etd). So… therefor i have a 4.80 right now</p>
