I only got accepted to these two schools and am currently on the waitlist for UChicago. Even if I get off the WL, I want to transfer into Ivies/Stanford/ MIT ASAP. I’m hoping to transfer in the fall semester, but I heard you can also transfer in spring. Which time is best? Which university would I have the best shot of transferring to an Ivy to if I go for one year? It doesn’t have to be Harvard, I’m fine with Cornell or Dartmouth
Fellow senior here; do you mind if I ask why you want to transfer so badly? Going into college with that mindset sounds like setting yourself up for failure and unhappiness. UCB and UCLA are both super good, very well-respected institutions. They aren’t referred to as “public ivies” for no reason.
Also, keep in mind that transfer acceptance rates at ivies are incredibly low. Dartmouth and Cornell, for example, had transfer acceptance rates of 6% and 9% respectively, for the 2024-2025 school year. More likely than not, you’ll get rejected and be stuck at a school you’ve already written off for (seemingly) no reason.
Be proud of yourself for bagging both Cal and LA! That’s very hard to do. Don’t sour your college experience just because you’re not at an Ivy.
Thank God you’re willing to settle.
