I was wondering what my chances would be from a CCC to a UC and other colleges outside California:

Colleges: UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCD, UCSB, UT Austin, University of Washington

3.3/3.4 GPA
CS major
Intern for a start up in San Francisco
Worked at a technology camp for younger kids
Violinist/pianist
Was a violin teacher
Worked at a music store
Moved to SF on my own

Even though you have great ECs, you still want your GPA to be around 3.8 to be competitive for Berkeley and LA (assuming that CS = computer science and not cognitive science or whatever else).

SB/SD: Iffy because your GPA is a little low, but CS is not impacted at either school.

Can you give us an actual GPA, instead of a range? With precision to two decimal places, because those last two digits are significant. SD sets their GPA cutoffs at an arbitrary number (X.XX), where the last two digits count. It’s a hard cutoff, and they basically reject applicants that fall below it.

If it’s a 3.40, I’d say you’ve got a good shot. If it’s a 3.30, then your chances are 50/50, depending on the competition from other applicants this year.

Davis: Good chance with a 3.4 GPA, 50/50 with 3.3 GPA.

Hey himymm. I have a GPA really close to yours…and my major isn’t impacted just like your chosen major.

You’re at a long shot for both UCB and UCLA. I honestly think you’re in at UCSD, UCSB, and all the other UCs you listed. For UCSD, I agree with asphyxiac. UCSD sets a cutoff for non impacted majors. I believe last years was at a 3.23? Anyone below it got rejected. I saw a ton of CS majors get in with 3.23+.

What do you guys think? At 3.35 is a good GPA to get in for a non impacted major.

No problem. Oh I’ve said this on a ton of threads. My counselor who is an amazing counselor chanced me and said I’m 90% in at UCSD UCR UCI and UCSB and I have a 3.34 GPA. Maybe that’ll help you ease the nervousness lol it sure helped me. Good luck. And message if you have any other questions.
