Chance me!

UC Davis, UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine. Is it very likely that I will get rejected from all three?

I think it could go either way with these schools. Based upon your other posts, course rigor is lacking and your UC GPA is below the average for these schools but your SAT is above the average. All you can do is apply and hope for the best, but make sure you have some solid back up schools you are willing to attend. Good Luck.

You may get into UCD because UCSB has small engineering department, less than 300. UCI has very strong Computer Science so the competition is stiff.

@DrGoogle Compsci is impacted at every UC basically, am I correct

Some more than others. Check to see if they have CS in the non engineering department. 3.0 at Davis.

UCSC and UCR have good CS programs and your stats are above the average for these schools. I would apply to UCD/UCSB and UCI, but add UCSC and UCR if you a determined to go to a UC. Other schools to consider at SJSU (very competitive CS program in the heart of SV), CSUF, CSULB and SDSU. All these schools will give you an excellent education.

I agree with @gumbymom that both UCSC and UCR are good for CS. You may get some scholarship at UCR.

@DrGoogle I believe nearly all the UC’s have Computer science separated from Computer engineering/SCience, with Compsci put in College of letters and sciences. I assume it should be a bit easier?

Yes, but do check out the admission rate for each UC. I’m only aware of the top 3. But for UCSD, I believe you will get admitted to the university and not by major. So you may get accepted there as undeclared then change to Math/CS then if you do well at all the lower level CS classes you can change to CS . I think they have both BA and BS under engineering, but not 100% sure.

You’ve got a shot at all of them but, CS is very competitive - I’d give you no better than 50/50 odds at those 3 campuses.

I agree with @gumbmom and @drgoogle - UCSC and UCR have very good programs and shouldn’t be dismissed so quickly. I’d add SDSU to your list just keep options open.

Good luck.

@NCalRent I’m keeping UCSC and UCR as options but ideally I would like to attend SB Irvine or Davis. Just hoping I won’t get rejected from all three. Thanks for suggestion
