SAT IIs : US History (750), Writing (720), Math IIC(640) - Retaking Math and Writing next month.</p>

  • Biology (4)
  • English Lang/Lit. (5)
  • Spanish Lang. (5)
  • Euro History (4)
  • Taking Calc AB, Government/Politics, Environmental Science, English Lit. in May</p>

<p>Awards :

  • AP Scholar w/Distinction
  • Golden State Exam recognition in Algebra, Geometry, High School Math
  • Governor’s Scholarship
  • Science Olympiad medals (3 gold, 2 silver at regional competitions)</p>

<p>ECs :

  • Church (4 years through high school) 3 hours per week, 50 weeks per year
  • Marching Band (11th grade) 11 hours per week, 12 weeks per year
  • Science Olympiad (10th, 11th, 12th grade) 3 hours per week, 12 weeks per year
  • Varsity Tennis (10th, 11th, 12th grade) 10 hours per week, 12 hours per year
  • My last one can either be CSF, Model United Nations or KEY Club…any suggestions on which one I should put?</p>

  • Blood center (12th) 4 hours per week, 12 weeks per year
  • Church (9th-12th) 5 hours per week, 10 weeks per year (Every so often our church puts on events, does service within community as a group)
  • Food bank (12th) 5 hours per week, 4 weeks per year
  • Missions trip to Mexico (10th, 11th, 12th) - 50 hours per week, 1 week per year</p>

Comparing published Fall 2003 Freshman Admission Profile for UCLA, your GPA and your SAT scores are significantly higher. Berkeley has slightly higher GPA and scores than UCLA, Davis has somewhat lower. Your delcared major will play a big role, since some programs are more fiercely competitive ( e.g. engineering).
I am sure that you know all this already. You will be accepted to Davis, and you are also an excellent candidate for Berkeley and UCLA. Best of luck!</p>

<p>Thank you…I was wondering about majors - See, I’m not exactly sure which one I want to go into. Is there any drawback to applying undeclared? And would the adcoms raise an eyebrow if I chose an alternate major that was quite different from my first choice?</p>

<p>The admissions advisors state that there is no drawback to applying undelcared. Hard to say what they might look at in terms of alternate majors.</p>

<p>Election precinct officier? Cool, i wasn’t the only HS poll worker in the 2004 election…I hear that CSF is quite common on ECs so dnt put it unless u are active or are an officier. Otherwise nice stats. Model UN if ur going in on social sciences (history, etc) wont hurt. Raise the math score to at lease 680. Band u were only in one year, so that might b wk. Chances, Davis good, UCB and UCLA good-fair. Good ECs and Community service though. Wait, how is Church a EC? Doing stuff in church seems like in the CS only…</p>

<p>Well, I’m an active member in all kinds of groups within the church, and have some leadership in it too…considering how much I’m involved I consider it to be an EC…do you think it doesn’t fit there?</p>

<p>Risky, if only cuz its untraditional. Make sure that you put under the description that its the groups in church, not the church itself. if there is a big group that is in the church that u are active in (Church toys for the poor or something), then that would b better.</p>

<p>Leadership doesn’t just mean official positions like president. To answer the question, the only thing i can say is that it won’t hurt u as much as it would at private schools</p>
