UC chances

I have a 3.6 high school gpa, took the toughest courses at my school(includes 6 ap classes and lots of honors classes), 4 on ap us history, 3 on ap english, lots of extracurricular activities, lots of volunteer work, lots of paid jobs, 1380 SAT (730 verbal, 650 math), 650 math IC, 710 US history, 600 writing for sat II’s, great essays. I applied to all the UC’s, what are my chances for these schools? Thanks.

PS, when I recieved my SAT II scores I noticed that a 710 for UC History is somewhere in the 70’s percentile wise, is this an error or did all the people that took the history test ace it? Everyone that I talked to who took the history test thought it was hard.

What’s your ethnicity? If you’re not white or Asian (including Indian or Pacific Islander), then you have a shot at some of the lower UCs. Cal, LA, and SD are going to be matchy reaches. If you are white or Asian/Pacific Islander, then you still have a shot at Riverside, Santa Cruz, or Santa Barbara, but almost no chance at Cal, LA, or SD unless you’ve got some major athletic talent or such.

I don’t think colleges care about percentile… be happy with your 710.

When will people learn that UC’s don’t base their admissions on race, they don’t have affirmative action frozen tears!

UCB is always a reach for everyone, basically you never know
UCLA is always a reach for everyone, basically you never know
UCSD is a match
UCSC is a Safety
UCSB is almost a Safety/Low Match
UCD is almost a Safety/Low Match
UCI is almost a Safety/Low Match
UCR is Safety
UCM is Safety

i know lots of people who got 800s on the SAT II for US Hist

frozen-tears what the heck are you talking about with the ethnicities? lol youre way off but whatever. First off, you dont have to disclose your ethnicity and second, schools like SC, SB do not have underrepresented asian populations…no ca schools do. admissions are random. you can have a 3.5 and get into Cal regardless of your ethnicity. Everyone can try to crack the code of college admissions but it wont do you any good! they are random random random.

sam3, i think you have a good shot at every school, UCLA may be the most difficult…good luck

Sam3:

UCLA/UCB: Reach
UCSD: Match
UCD/UCSB/UCI: Safe Match
UCSC/UCR/UCM: Safety

thanks guys, gives me some peace of mind during Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone!
