I’m a communication major at a middle tier UC with a 3.3 gpa and a 165 LSAT. I have a D on my transcript. I’m fairy involved (the VP of my student org) and have held two internships (in the media/communications field) while working to pay for a good amount of my college.

Considering my stats and a background in prepping for a career in media/marketing/pr, (decided I didn’t want to go that route) what do you think my chances are of getting into a top school? My parents wont help me out with tuition unless I can get into a good school? (and by good I mean top 20-30, either East or West coast- they’re very particular)

You might get into some, but might not get into others, depending on your statistics. I hope this helps.

No T14 if thats where you’re getting at.

I’m taking the LSAT again in September and plan on studying all summer for it. I didn’t study as much as I should have before, so I’m fairly certain I’ll do better on it than before (lets just say 166-169, hypothetically).

What are my chances for:
UCLA
USC
BU
GWU
BC
Fordham

Oh, and I’m a minority (Central American) if that helps.

Oh, and even though I have no desire of living in the areas of alot of schools ranked 15-30, do you think one should still apply and go to the highest ranked?

“Oh, and I’m a minority (Central American) if that helps.”

Yes, being Hispanic helps a lot. I’m not really sure of your chances, but I bet you’d get into half of the schools you listed.

fwiw: there is a BIG difference between a major that’s hard to get into (bcos its popular) and a major that’s just hard (academically). And, yes, Adcoms do know THAT difference.
