We visited for Aggie Day April 6, 2024 and stayed at the Aggie Inn.

Yes, would recommend the Aggie Inn. It is within walking distance of the UC Davis campus as well as downtown Davis. Parking was free.

We ate at Mamma’s Restaurant for dinner and Crepeville for breakfast. So many restaurants in downtown Davis, so little time.

Campus vibe was very friendly and reminded us of Cal Poly SLO 's vibe… which is a positive. The main difference was UC Davis seem to be more diverse than Cal Poly SLO.

DH took S24 and S27 to the get a tour of the Rec center while I attended the opening session with Undergraduate Admissions Executive Director Robert Penman and Chancellor Gary S. May.

We then went to the Physics Dept’s open house. The Undergraduate Student Academic Advisor was really helpful. The Department Chair was very approachable. The student volunteers were helpful. We bought a Physics sweatshirt to support the Physics club.

I had watched the UC Davis episode from College Tour Season 2 Episode 4 July 2021 and was aware of UC Davis leadership during COVID-19 pandemic known as Healthy Davis Together that made national news NY Times and Politico .

I did not know there was a cyclotron on campus and that one of the Physics professors was the narrator in 2019 45 min IMAX doc Secrets of the Universe. re: Large Hadron Collidor (LHC).

Given all of the above, I was pleasantly surprised by how humble and down to earth everyone we met at UC Davis seem.

We visited Aggie Day April 6, 2024 .

We drove from San Jose to UC Davis.

We ate lunch at Thai Canteen. The food was hit and miss with a few of the dishes.

The campus vibe was very welcoming which my kid found very nice. My older child who attended UCLA for his undergrad also found the campus to be friendly as well.

During our visit, we took a tour around campus and also visited a major fair where my kid was able to get more insight on their major! Later in the day, we explored downtown Davis and the farmers market which all seemed like great places for UC Davis students to take some time off with their friends. We were also able to explore some of UC Davis’s buildings such as the beautiful Shields Library and the amazing recreation center.

Overall, the campus was amazing and one thing that stood out to me was the inclusivity which is definitely a plus if your child is looking for that when attending college. The students that we met while we were there were extremely informative and kind individuals that were ready to answer all our questions and provide the help we needed.

And to that I say, Go Aggies!!
