It’s casual

Anyone going to Decision Day ?

I am!!! @Eager4acceptance

Yes, going to Decision. We live nearby in SF so we spent the day at Davis yesterday for my son to sit in on a couple art classes (intended Art Studio major).

@Eager4acceptance Yup, it’ll be my first time visiting since forever ago, lol. Does anyone know if there’s any advantage going on the bus tour vs. the walking tour (other than the fact you don’t have to walk everywhere)? The walking tour’s obviously probably more detailed, but I was wondering if the bus tour was more like a general tour of the campus.

@angiepie I applied to Emory as well! Did you get in?

@FarWestCoast this event is separate from decision day?

@Soniab98 nope

I toured the campus on Tuesday and in my opinion it was pretty helpful. I really wasn’t sure about which school to go to, but I think Davis is the right fit for me. Everyone seems really friendly and it’s more of a cooperative environment rather than competitive.

@jordanh16 If this is your first time visiting (since forever. Lol) I think it’s best you take the bus tour. Davis is a lot bigger than I expected so you can’t see too much on foot. I’d think the bus tour will give you a good sense of the general campus layout. If you have a bike rack, bring a bike. Almost all the students get around by bike because the school is so spread out. Give yourself a bike tour, maybe??

Anyone receive the welcome packet in the mail yet?

I received my welcome packet just yesterday in the mail, so hopefully it will be coming soon. ( Also @mash97
@Katecat27 )

I got mine yesterday

@anxiousapricot
Thanks! Got mine on Friday too. Not too much in it though surprisingly.

@Katecat27 True, I thought the envelope held more, too. Although if you were able to go to Decision Day, there was a lot of good info and stuff like brochures, free stickers and mini pennants, and refreshments (including cookies and brownies at some presentations). Congrats to everyone!

@anxiousapricot
Strangely enough I went Wednesday through Friday and left right before decision day. I loved the school though. Totally considering going there. How did you like it?

Went to Decision Day and it was great! Originally I was going to opt-in to the Berkeley waitlist just in case, but now I’m not even slightly considering it. Definitely going here!

@fennec38
Glad to hear you liked it so much! I’ll probably be going in the fall too:)))

Hi. I have a few admission offers and have cut the noise down to choosing between two colleges. Should i be going to UC Davis (where i have provosts award of 53 k spread over 4 years) or to UMich (no scholarship). Both the places have their pros and cons and i am just finding it hard to decide. If it helps, i am a female, international engineering applicant and my parents are ok with finances required in either colleges. As the May 1 deadline approaches i am getting more undecided on either UMich or UCD. Any inputs are highly appreciated. Thank you so much.

@sibibib If money isn’t a real issue, I would just mainly focus on what you want to do in college and how it affects what you want to do after, so essentially, which place has the better program for your major and goals after college? I’m no admission officer obviously, but if money wasn’t holding me back I’d focus on essentially which college fits my needs and goals. I don’t know too much about engineering at either school (English major…lol) but depending on what concentration of engineering you’re pursuing I’d just determine which program at either school would best prepare you for whatever you want to pursue after college. College definitely isn’t a destination, but it is an important tool in getting you where you want to go. Also, since location-wise both colleges are very different, you might want to consider how the area of each can contribute to your goals as well, especially in terms of internships, volunteer opportunities, etc.
