Just got home to a house full of senior boys. I am sure most of them applies to UCD and not one is saying a word about the decisions. So awkward! Do they even know decisions are out? I am not bringing it up. It’s killing me!

Rejected for Sociology. Might encourage her to appeal, even though I know the school doesn’t encourage them. It’s not her first choice, but I’m a big fan of options.

My daughter waitlisted last year but got accepted of the waitlist. She decided to attend UC Irvine, even after being accepted off UCD waitlist. Don’t give up hope!

It really doesn’t mean anything. They are all looking for different things and a bad fit at one UC could be a perfect fit at another. Rejection hurts and I’m sorry she’s dealing with it, especially if this was a a top choice. But the UC all make decisions independently and each has different priorities. A rejection at one UC does not automatically mean a rejection at another. I’m sure we all know stories about students rejected by UCD but accepted at UCB (or my neighbor’s daughter who was rejected by Irvine, but got a regent’s scholarship to UCLA). So don’t lose hope!
