Since UCD’s decisions will be out within the next few weeks, I have started a discussion thread for Freshman Waitlisted students and also for appeals.

General Waitlist Information and Tips:
- UC Waitlists are not ranked and it is not first in, first admitted.
- There is no way to determine your chances from being admitted off the waitlist. It will be depend upon how many admitted students SIR and how many spots are open after the deadline.
- No specific timeline for waitlist admits. If space opens up before the SIR deadline of May 1, then students can be pulled from the waitlist.
- Residency type and major are not broken out for the UC waitlist statistics.
- The number of waitlisted students that actually enroll is not listed.
- No LOCI’s since UC’s do not consider demonstrated interest. Opting into the waitlist shows your interest in attending.
- Opting into the waitlist is by invitation only.
- You cannot appeal your decision while on the waitlist.
- UC Davis asked for Senior Fall grades and Spring course updates to opt into the waitlist for Fall 2025.
Admissions appeal information:
Can I appeal my admission decision?
Appeals are rarely granted. Consideration for appeals is based on new and compelling information, extenuating circumstances and your overall academic record. As part of your appeal, you must include a statement describing your special circumstances, as well as any additional documents such as unofficial academic records and letters of recommendation. All appeals and supplemental documentation must be submitted online—interviews are not granted and appeals received through any other channel will not be considered.

Here is the waitlist timelines for the last few years. All schools will give an expected date for waitlists but it really depends upon how many students enroll by May 1 and how many spots are still available which changes from year to year. This is why you need to enroll in another school until you hear from the waitlist. June 30th is actually early. Many UC waitlists go well into July.
UCD:
2022: 1 wave on May 5. Closed on June 10. 2022.
2023: Admits April 18, May 9, May 23, June 1. Denials on June 21 and 28.
2024: May 21, May 30, June 4, June 13, June 24.
Also for my information, if you opt into the waitlist, can you tell me if UCD still accepts updated Senior grades and waitlist statement? Good luck.

Sorry, what does SIR stand for?
Each campus that offers you admission will issue you a Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) form or direct you to a website where you can declare your intent to register. Use this form or website to indicate whether you accept or decline the admission offer.

I have a student that had to provide their fall grades to accept position on waitlist. Is that standard for UC Davis?
Statement of Intent to Register = Enroll

Yes, they have asked for Senior grades and allowed waitlisted students to update new awards/achievements.

does anyone know how competitive the sustainable environmental design major at ucd is? i didnt believe it to be competitive but i got waitlisted for it with relatively good stats so im wondering if i even have a chance of getting off if its an impacted major or has limited spots
Sustainable Environmental Design is not a selective/impacted major but it usually only enrolls about 50 Freshman each year based on some Aggie Data enrollment information.
There is no way to know your chances of getting off the waitlist for any particular major so you will just have to opt into the waitlist and hope for the best.
In the meantime, you need to move on and get excited about the other schools that have accepted you.
UC Davis received 102,958 Freshman applications for approximately a target enrollment number of around 6700 Freshman. The issue is that most of the UC’s just have too many qualified applicants for the spots available.
thanks for the info. do they only enroll freshman a year due to limited spots or because not that many people apply for the program?
Probably department capacity which will limit the enrollment. Currently there are around 200 overall Undergraduates enrolled in the program.
thanks for letting me know! hopefully i can get off the waitlist
How is the Political Science Major at UC Davis in regards to quality or number of people attending/ applicants. I got waitlisted there.
wondering - when the waitlist goes all the way into late june (when spring grades and transcripts will be finalized) do we have to submit our updated spring grades to the portal too like we did for fall grades?
Opt in deadline for the waitlist is April 15 so reporting Spring grades may not be an option.
would we be able to report them in june? or do they not allow for updated grades by then
You would have to see if the student portal will allow you to update those final grades. For waitlist purposes, your decision will be based on what is reported by the April 15 deadline and on your original UC application.
