Someone told me their friend working at the admissions office said they’d release on April 27th, but I think it’s a rumor and idk how accurate that would be
Business Admin Major (looking to transfer fall 2020)
GPA: 3.13
Hey guys,
So I’ve also been wondering about acceptance release dates and I need some advice or different perspectives because I don’t know what to think at this point.
Basically, I got accepted into UC Davis TAG and you have to do the usual 3.2 GPA and C or better in remaining classes. About 2 quarters ago I received a NP in a math class (all that is required is stats but I finished so this is one class higher) and got a D in Accounting 1 sequence (required for my major). At this point, I expected to receive an email regarding them rescinding my TAG since I’d already basically broken the contract.
I retook my accounting class last quarter and received a B so I am continuing the sequence which is all that is required for transfer on my major listed on assist.
They emailed me a couple of weeks after asking me about those grades and why I received them. I had a really personal situation that occurred during this time and replied to the linked forum with about a page and a half (the shortest I could summarize the situation in) saying that I’m not usually one to use my personal circumstances to try and justify my grades but that is what really affected me.
I’ve yet to receive anything back so I don’t know what to think in regards to being accepted.
Basically my questions are:
If you're TAG gets rescinded do they notify you or do you just fall into the regular admissions pool and find out along with everyone else?
Do you think I still have a chance at admission? I appreciate honesty. I've had this school as my goal since I was in high school and now I feel like I messed up my only chance.
I also meant to add, I don’t know how that process works. They haven’t told me anything about the TAG so I’m not even sure where that stands. If I log onto the TAP account it shows the same acceptance letter.
Well I think you’re out of the tag as the rule was violated, but you’re rolled into regular admission. The fact that they asked you about the situation is a good sign. They’re still considering you. They wouldn’t waste their time reaching out if they weren’t.
I have a similar experience with you. Although I was approved to UCD TAG, I got a C+ in one of my major course in Fall 2019. Now I’m worrying about that whether or not it will affect to my TAG and admission decision. Unlike you, they never asked me about it. UCD is my first option, I don’t want to mess it up.?
My stats:
Major: Statistics
GPA : 3.2~after TAU
Major Gpa : 3.0~
Major Prep: 80% done
Tag: UCD
2 year ccc transfer+ 1 year in out-of-state university
@Wesley24 I think you should read the guidelines of your TAG because I am sure that a C or more is allowed as long as that also allows you to maintain the individual major GPA like how math, bio and chem require.
"Further, UC Davis admission decisions are set to be released on April 16th and will include with a prompt to apply for AvenueE at UC Davis. ", that’s the part that talks about the decision date, it is an email from the AvenueE program at UC Davis.
hey guys! i applied to ucd as a biomedical engineering major but most likely will not get accepted bc im missing bio and ochem. i did apply for mechanical engineering though but im missing one required class which is statics. do u guys know if Davis is lenient about one missing class or im out of the equation? after winter quarter, my uc transferable gpa is 3.52.
I have always been under the impression that a requirement is a requirement and you will not be admitted if you don’t have them all completed. Otherwise, what would be the point of having a list of required courses if they are going to still accept people who have not finished all of the requirements?
@sadstemstudent Did you not take statics because you didn’t want to/didn’t have time, or because your cc does not have that course? I found this on the UC Davis website under College of Engineering transfer major requirements which may be helpful for you:
“When the ASSIST website indicates “no comparable course’ or ‘not articulated,’ the selective major course requirement will be waived for UC Davis admission/TAG, but must be completed after enrolling at UC Davis.”
ahh i see what u mean, i didnt take statics bc i never really paid attention to the alternate major until pretty recently. it was too late by then bc i cant squeeze another class in for spring quarter. I saw on their website that missing one prereq will place me in the lower priority group so there still might be a chance.
I know some schools like UCR are forgiving even if they are required but there are other courses that you would have to fill that gap with but that list isn’t made public and I think only counselors have them for evaluation. I also know that most schools are like UCI where if you are missing a requirement then you will not be considered. Idk which one Davis would be but good luck!
