UC Davis Freshman Class of 2028 Waitlist and Appeals Discussion

Hi I have a question. If s24 get the first and only C on AP literature at the second semester in Senior Year, will he get rescind by UCD?

No. That’s fine.

No, the conditions of admission normally states the student must maintain a weighted GPA of 3.0 with no D’s or F’s.

since the first waitlist came out this week on tuesday, does that mean the next waves will be only on tuesdays or will the day change?

Has anyone gotten off the waitlist for data science?

I haven’t gotten off yet.

My son got off the waitlist 3 days ago and accepted offer for Mechanical Engineering. In state and was waitlisted at UCLA, Cal, SB and Irvine. He was set to go OOS before he heard back from Davis. The UC’s need to rethink how they manage waitlists. It’s way too cumbersome of a process when each campus releases offers at different times. It would be better if they all release waitlist offers on same day so students will know exactly where they stand. As it is now, you have these constant movements on and off waitlists that won’t settle until well into summer. My son is very happy that he got off Davis waitlist, but if he gets off the UCLA or Cal waitlist…that’s tough to turn down. Good luck to everyone.

Does everyone need to pay $250 deposit while submitting the UC Davis SIR? Why my account doesn’t show anything about deposit?

Students who received an application fee waiver will not need to submit a deposit.

So did you receive a fee waiver?

Thank you! I do receive a fee waiver

Congrats to everyone who’s gotten off the waitlist, but has anyone gotten off the waitlist as an electrical engineer major?

Currently Wait-listed for Computer engineering and science, any idea if anyone got in for those majors? How good or bad is the off-wait list rate this year?

So hoping @Gumbymom can weigh in as this year seems strange to me. There hasn’t been much posting here or on Reddit on waitlist acceptances in comparison with other UC’s. Not only were the initial few accepted really late in comparison to the other UC’s but very little in State activity. I’m curious to see the activity this week and hoping for everyone that Davis just decided to do one week of large waves for In-States starting today. I can’t imagine they have met their yield numbers. It looks like UCLA is admitting a lot and given that its such a desired school - I would have expected to see a large wave from Davis. Very little movement from UCSC as well. Any insight from anyone?

I noticed that several people on the UCSB forum stated that they got off the waitlist but decided to stay at Davis.

Yes, my son is one of those! :grinning:
His friend decided to switch to UCSB when he got off this waitlist. People told my son he was crazy not to switch but being on the UCSB waitlist provided him time to “deep dive” into Davis and he realized it was a better choice for him. We were surprised because UCSB was his targeted school but he quickly discovered that while the location of UCSB was better, it wasn’t necessarily the right school for his major (politics) and really liked the vibe at Davis as much as UCSB.

I really cannot offer any insights about the UC Davis waitlist or the other campuses waitlists but over the year’s I have learned that there is no definitive way to predict the waitlist timelines.

So many variables play into the UC enrollment targets and something like the FAFSA delays can have a large impact of when and if they are pulling from the waitlists.

I think that UCSC and UCR are waiting for the trickle down effect from the other UC campus waitlists and will then starting pulling in June, but just an assumption. I have only started within the last 2 years to keep track of the dates and the number of admit waves off the waitlists since so many posters are asking about trends but really nothing has stood out to me other it can vary widely each year.

All anyone can do is patiently wait until they receive a decision one way or another. You also have to remember that not everyone is on social media so not everyone admitted will post their information. It is very difficult to gauge how many students are actually admitted until the numbers are posted at the UC Counselor conference and on the CDS.

Has anyone got off of the waitlist for anything, in particular engineering?

I have seen admits for Civil, Aerospace and Mechanical on this discussion thread. On Reddit, admits for Bioengineering and Computer Engineering also.

has anyone gotten off in-state for cognitive science? does anyone believe that davis is going to do another few waves? hoping for the best here
