I’m debating if I should attend Sac State for my specific major of business finance or UC davis for the managerial economics major. Please help me! I’m nervous about the economics classes that UC davis requires the students to take. Sac state I know offers more focused class for the major while Davis offers a wide variety with some finance.
Many moons ago, I earned my BS in Biz from Sac and my brother, in managerial econ from Davis… they are both good schools. Both of us subsequently earned MBAs and do very well financially. Neither of us ever had trouble getting a job because of where we graduated…though neither of us was sought out due solely to our alma mater.
Davis is a more classic college experience, where most students live close to campus, show up for football games, etc, That said, it is now a very large campus filled with high achieving students. While Sac has a more laid back feel and commuter vibe.
Davis also has a substantial advantage in Football, where they have won something like 60% of the Causeway Classics - an event you should attend whichever you choose.
I think Davis will require more math if that is a consideration. In the abstract, straight out of school, Davis will probably get you more interviews but, if you take advantage of internships and biz-centric organizations like Delta Sigma Pi you can easily develop an attractive skill set at Sac.
There is no wrong answer here… go where you fit and don’t look back.
