I’m transferring from a CC, and I was accepted to UC Davis and UCLA. However, I would graduate from Davis with no debt, and I would graduate from UCLA with $15,000 in loans. I think I’d rather go to UCLA, but I’m worried about the debt. Any advice?
15k per year or total college career? & what major?
You only live once. UCLA.
@shishand80 15k total (I would graduate with 15k in loans). Psych major, but I’m pre med so the major isn’t particularly important.
Anyone else with advice?
15k total is nothing. You can practically work partially and have that even paid off before you graduate. Difference between UCD and UCLA is a whole world… And I’m only guessing UCLA is more prestigious as well for your major. For me it would be a no brainer, UCLA all the way. 15k for a college education from UCLA is very nice.
After med school debt it would add up though
isnt ucla known for its medical school and etc…?
- $15k in undergrad debt is not a lot at all.
- As someone else pointed out, if you get a PT job, you can start paying that off before you graduate.
- Visit the UCLA scholarship office, and find out what other options for free money there are for you. They’re very helpful.
- If UCLA is where you really want to go, then go. I’m not saying don’t plan for the future, but you have also live for and enjoy your present.
- I’m not saying that you won’t go to Mec school, but we never know what the future holds. If for whatever reason med school didn’t happen, or didn’t happen right away, which school would you rather have on your resume?
- UCLA is just freaking awesome! Goooo Bruins!!
I’d say go where you are happier, and also start applying to scholarships!
For example, at UCLA you could do https://alumni.ucla.edu/scholarships/apply/default.aspx or http://www.ugeducation.ucla.edu/tap/scholarship.htm (if TAP certified)
UCLA. $15000 is not a lot of money. goto school you think you will have bettern time in.
UCLA is urban setting. city life. socal weather, beaches…
UCD country but bit relaxed and chilled out.
