UC Davis rescind/non transferable class?

Okay so my contract says I have to maintain a 2.8 gpa in all transferable courses.
Well . . . I think I might get a D in a non-transferable class. Would this make them rescind my acceptance? What can I do?

No offense, but please only answer if you know for sure what you’re talking about.

Thanks

I think the UC’s couldn’t care less about non-transferable classes and you’ll be fine. But seriously, just e-mail or call the admissions office and let them tell you that so you aren’t anxious about possibly getting rescinded.

Trust me, u will be FINE!!! UC Davis is very very very lenient on the transfer admission. A frd of mine who transfered to UCD last semester, she is Managerial Economic major, and she received an F on her Micro Econ class which is her major pre… however, UCDavis allow her to take that class over in Davis in the summer or fall and they still accept her. So, if you get a D in a non-transferable class and ur GPA still over 3.0… u should be no problem… UCdavis is not as strict as UCB and UCLA

It should say in your contract which classes you need to pass. If this class isn’t listed there, then you should be fine.

@everyone thanks for answering!

@Empathy It doesn’t have a list of specific classes. It just says transferable. I think I should be fine but what worries me is the fact that my overall GPA is so low this semester . . . I’m getting a C, two B’s, and the C/possible D for the non-transferable class. But my contract says I need to maintain a 2.8 gpa for my transferable classes. Two B’s and a C is a 2.67 even if they don’t care about the non-transferable class. I’ve been in contact with Davis and I didn’t talk about the non-transferable class but I asked “What if I get below a 2.8 but I don’t get any D’s or F’s?” and I got a response saying

It doesn’t say “each of your transferable courses.”

:/
What do you guys think?

Edit: I just did the math and it’s still possible for me to get a C if I get 100% on the final . . .ugh but I’m so stressed out that I can’t concentrate

Personally, I think you’ll be fine. But my opinion counts for nothing, really.

So long as there aren’t requirements specific to your major that you won’t be completing now, I don’t think they’ll rescind you.

You should set up a contingency plan though. I’ve been waiting for permission (from the college of engineering) to take a summer class at Davis instead of my CC for almost a month. They take forever.

Okay. So you think I should contact them again with this hypothetical scenario?
How should I phrase it?

You’re the english major, aren’t you? Put your rhetoric skills to use.

You know more about your situation than I do.

Okay, thanks for the help everyone :)

OMG im in the same shoes as you… my GPA is a cumulative GPAis a 2.8! and I just took my finals today and I might get a B in Calculus… a C in chemistry and hopefully a B in Eng. … that is below a 2.8gpa, under conditions of admission. Am I in jeopardy as well? feed back I am very scared =X

^ go to myadmissions where it says Report any Changes and explain your situation. They’ll get in contact with you.

Well, here’s an update on my situation if anyone cares (probably not, everyone’s got their own issues :D). Today I found out that I got a B in a class I thought I’d get a C in. My other two classes are going to be B’s too . . . so that leaves me with a 3.0 in my transferable classes, which I think fulfills my contract. I might still swing a C in the class I’m worried about. I might get a D. It’s out of my hands now and I’m just waiting for my final grade . . . but I think I can make a much stronger case now for them against the rescind if I do get a D.

ah i see… you can do that? if you know your grades, but not yet official, should I submit it now?

@enchanted

A “D” in a non-transferrable class is almost surely fine. I understand that they are a bit vague, but I can’t imagine why they would care much about a non-transferable course. As long as you pass all of your transferrable classes, and earn a cumulative GPA of 2.8 overall, you can be rest assured. It is best to report any changes online ASAP and contact UCD by phone as well.

Best of luck to you. UCD is a fun place :)

this made me lol

:)

^ Me too! Actually it made me smile cause he remembered that I’m an English major. I feel loved :D

@Trumpet Yeah I hope so! Thanks :)

^ yeah he is a charmer like that. oh EmpathyInAnarchy you stir us so.

@enchantedivy So what if I didn’t get the official grades yet? Should I still post on the my possible grades for the spring? I am hoping for a A B and a C , but if not at worst its going to be a B C C … =( you said you got away with it?

“We have carefully reviewed your recently submitted academic records and/or correspondence. You will need to pass each of your Spring courses with no grade below a C in order to keep your admission status in good standing.”

^Yeah, that’s what they said. No, I think you should wait and post them all together, but if you’re worried, just explain the situation in the comment box on that page. They will get back to you.
