UC Davis to Stanford-Chances?

Hey guys, I wanted to give a little background on the question I have.

I’m currently in my gap year and I graduated hs in June of 2019.

I’ve been interning at HP headquarters in Palo Alto since October 2019 and my internship ends this August.

I’ve been in contact with the Stanford coach as a recruit for their squash team. I got an email the other day confirming that I was the top pick for their #3 spot (they only have 3 spots open so I was 3/3) and unfortunately a foreign player who competes internationally came in on the roster last second after deciding that she could pay full tuition instead of asking for a large scholarship. Because of that, everyone was bumped down a spot on the roster and me being #3/3, was bumped off. Honestly this was heartbreaking but the coaches did offer something else.

Since I will be applying as a transfer from UCD, they’ve offered to write a letter of recommendation for me to the office of admissions as part of my application. The coaches already have my hs transcript and say my academics are strong enough for the school, and that I would have to continue to show academic strength in my first year of college as well.

I wanted to ask:

with my HP internship paired with a letter of recommendation from a Stanford athletic coach, would my chances of a seemingly impossible transfer be higher?

This is super long I know but I just need some valuable input on this.
Thank you!
