Honestly I’m kind of shocked that I got waitlisted, especially given the fact that I was waitlisted at UCLA as well, which is by far a more prestigious university. Can someone please explain what could have possibly caused such a high trend in waitlist rates for applicants with higher stats? I think that it may have something to do with rejecting overqualified applicants.

I heard UCI is notorious for having a very low waitlist acceptance rate as well :(. I hope that isn’t true
as someone who also has low stats i don’t understand why all of these higher stats folks are getting waitlisted?? what’s the point of a backup school if they’re just gonna reject you for “yield protection”
