I applied for nursing also, but I haven’t gotten any updates yet. Just letting you guys know, that for nursing, you are either ACCEPTED or DENIED. There are no waitlists into the school, so if you’re accepted from the waitlist, you are most likely going to be in for your alternate major or undeclared.
Here is what it says on the site for nursing UCI:
What if I am not admitted into the Nursing Science major?
Students not admitted to our program may reapply the following year.
It is possible for you to be admitted to UC Irvine but not to the Nursing Science major. If this happens, admission will default to your second choice major. If you’re admitted to UC Irvine under a different major, you may reapply during the next year to change your major to Nursing Science once at UC Irvine.
Is there a waiting list?
No, the Nursing Science program does not maintain a waiting list.
@anxiousparent101 stats are quite low compared to many on site but

Sat 1280 (didn’t take it junior year completely forgot and took it the last two chances I could)
No ACT
EC: tutoring for English language learners, and club volunteering for foster children
Essays I would say were my best shot at being admitted. I was born with a birth defect which affects me currently, as I’m still going through surgeries, which inspired me to pursue nursing. Honestly, I was betting on this reason to possibly get me accepted as UC’s claim they want unique people…which I guess worked if I was waitlisted despite my stats.
Good luck and hope your D gets accepted or at least waitlisted!! It’s not always about high stats.
Do any of u guys know if a lot of acceptances/waitlists have gone out for polysci?? If ur a polysci major that got waitlisted/accepted or whatever can u please post ur stats?
I can’t believe I got waitlisted…theres people with lower stats than me that got in. I even did an internship at Intel, I compose music and have composed 7 songs, started a club, am in CyberPatriot and was an officer for the past 3 years, SAT 1450, UC GPA of 3.96 ish I think.

Waitlisted at UCSD and rejected from UCSB, UCD.
Idk what to do with my life anymore. Ill probably be going to UCSC or Purdue. I feel like a failure
@JCG thanks for the info! D got accepted to CSULB nursing, still waiting for UCI. Hope you can get off the waiting list. We are afraid tomorrow will be rejection.
@co2022CA thanks for sharing your stats! My D’s stat is very similar to yours, 4.14 UC GPA, ACT 31. NHS, hospital volunteer. Still no updates. Hope you will get off waitlist as well.
Does anyone know if updates admissions from waitlist will go directly to your email or will we have to check our portal everyday for the next few months lol…?
@MythCars I’m in the exact same position, I have similar stats and hella good extracurriculars and I have gotten the same results as you, I’ll probably be at UCSC
@mayngu29 That’s what I believed as well when i saw the waitlist I thought it was for my alternative, but the SIP says for nursing, so i guess this year is different due to last years mistake
