the portal says it’s down for maintenance until 6:45am… has the portal done this on any of the decison release days so far?
@docstat26 that’s the case everyday
@CaliUSA7 yeah I have read some comments where people said they got waitlisted. still nothing for me, when I tried to login all I could see was a grey/blank page and now the portal is down for maintenance (like everyday). this is too boring I want to know my decision!! :(( I heard there was gonna be another wave of acceptances, but still nothing here. maybe they are still rolling acceptances with some waitlists and/or rejections. who knows, UCI has been playing tricks… good luck for going there though, wish you all the best and that you have a great college experience!! I hope I’ll get in…but I’m hopeless
@Docstat26 it happens everyday yeah!
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 I think they released waitlists because they weren’t completely sure who to admit to prevent what happend last year, and they had to release admissions on Monday for the sake of it so they went with waitlists (highly qualified people).
@CaliUSA7 yeah I noticed that a lot of qualified people got waitlisted! this year was tough. do you plan to study at UCI for 4 years or transfer somewhere else as a junior?
I dont know what to expect honestly :(( I would really like to get in…last UC campus left…
If I had to go to a CSU, I would transfer to a UC. But I’m considering all UC’s to be approximately the same in the quality of education but the competition is different in every campus I guess. I wouldn’t transfer as a junior because i mean it is a mid-tier UC… I won’t be able to succeed in better UCs.
If you change your major to a less competitive one will you be more likely to get off of the waitlist?
Finally heard back this morning. Waitlisted.
GPA: 3.9 (UW) 4.59 (W)
SAT: 1310 (630 Math, 680 R&W)
Class Rank: 1/50
AP’s Taken: World History (3), Euro, US History, English Lang, English Lit, US Gov, Calc AB, Stats (3), Chem, and Psych (I didn’t take the tests for most of them because I didn’t know disability accommodations were a thing until this year when my new school introduced things like 504 plans and accommodations to me).
Dual Enrollment Courses: Human Bio (A) and Macroeconomics (A)
EC’s: Pretty good- I can type it all up if anyone is seriously interested. Basically a few clubs at both schools I’ve attended with leadership positions, volunteering at a hospital, and an internship. I’ve gotten some awards too- most in school or local except for a letter from the White House, specifically from Obama’s advisor, recognizing a short film I created on racism. I also participated in two summer programs: MLT at UCR and Bovard Scholars at USC.
Essays: I’m proud of them and I had a few teachers read over them who liked them.
Accepted: UCR with Chancellor’s, UCSD, and USC
Denied: Hopkins, UCLA
Geographic location: Southern California, USA
Unique Things: First gen student, serious health problems that at times have affected my school (never grades but attendance, testing, etc), low socioeconomic status
@seniorrrr2018 No because UCI admits into the school before sorting into a major. If a major is too full, they would just put you under undeclared.
Is the portal down for anyone else?
Still no message for me as of this morning
no messages for me either
@pingotip Thanks! Your stats looks great! Did you get wait listed or still waiting? @co2022CA and @JCG both got wait listed for nursing instead of getting into their alt. major. or undeclared. So they may have nursing wait list this year. There is no update on my D’s portal, afraid it will be a rejection. UC GPA 4.14, ACT 31
Blank page rn ö
Just want to comment that the notion of high stats kids just going to another college is flawed. Some kids can’t afford to leave home for college. Some are dealing with terminally ill family and want to stay home or close. Yes, they could get into more competitive schools but that doesn’t mean they will get money to cover the cost of room and board even if they are lucky enough to get tuition help. I feel for anyone who was counting on a school, deserved to be there and doesn’t get in.
@turtletime that’s what my mom said when I told her high stats peeps are getting waitlisted but I think room and board is covered for the impoverished…financial aid duh
Accepted last Friday!
Major: pharmaceutical science
Based on a call yesterday most admits released Friday, most Waitlists released Monday, and most rejects released today around same time as previous waves. I am going to Univ of Washington but did want to close this last app out and all indications are it will be a reject.
@ahdirnl53 Stats?
