***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

@huskybound what call :blush:

Couldn’t any get sleep last night…

nothing still for my S - they did admits, waitlists then we know what’s left - oh well - so much for paying 10% sales and 20% state taxes for the last 36 years - nothing in return - thanks California - frustrated dad

I’m almost 100% acceptances are not done yet. There were more posts about waitlists thn acceptances

there would be way more posts about acceptances, there has to be more

I heard someone theorize that UCI is giving out fewer acceptances and then are going to depend heavily on the waitlist, in order to make sure a freak mess-up like last year doesn’t happen.

@lilaclily I think they’re using waitlists for 1/3 of their acceptances but waiting is :-&.half of the waitlist will get accepted.

As a parent, I am absolutely shocked to see so many high-stat, high-achieving kids being waitlisted. Something is seriously wrong with UCI admissions if this is their strategy to build a great freshman class. That said - from this thread you seem like an outstanding group of warm, caring, super supportive students and you’ll do great wherever you end up. It is UCI 's loss.

For future readers, it is roilling admissions DECISIONS, not rolling admissions. It goes acceptances, oos acceptances, waitlists and rejections.

@2022Fall OOS decisions came out on the same day as in-state.

Well that leaves DS with CSLB, CCP and CSF since there’s no way Berk will come through. It’s…better than nothing? I guess? sigh

It seems like it’s been a horrible experience with UCI. No communication, portal issues, rolling decisions, etc. Dont forget UCI released their honors admits early not sure how many there were but that was weeks ago, so those need to be accounted for when trying to figure out how many they admitted. Both my kids were accepted early for honors, but they won’t be attending UCI. So that’s 2 open spots for waitlist kids. Wishing you all some peace, this process is BEYOND stressful. The whole UCB debacle has created a lot of stress too

Do you think they’re waitlisting a lot of high qualified applicants so they can keep their avg gpa and sat the same? I see that their avg sat is a 1250 and gpa a 3.9

Like maybe they don’t want to be like a SB or SD or D kind of UC ya know?

@aweinst they did accept High qualified applicants as well… and low ones to keep it average

@2022Fall Agree! I think the UCs should be required to give an explanation to CA applicants that are waitlisted/denied that are in the 50% and above range for the school. My D has stats that are above 75% on every level and she has heard nothing from UCI. Seeing all of these high stat students getting waitlisted and I’m guessing more will come in the denied pile soon, just isn’t right in so many ways. UCI was not my D first choice however it is the most affordable choice since we live close enough to live at home. UCI guessing she will go to another school and therefore passing her up for yield is just insane. I can not think of another explanation why they would pass on so many well qualified people.

CAN U GUYS LIKE THIS POST IF U STILL THINK ACCEPTANCES ARE COMING OUT

Waitlisted for Business Econ. In State. Does appeal work for waitlist? Or just sign the statement of intent and wait?\

So those who didn’t get waitlisted yesterday are most likely getting rejected today then ?

There will still be acceptances but today is probably a heavy rejection day. I hope they just put the acceptances and rejections today and then this will all be over. I think they decided all of their waitlists so now we just have to wait :frowning:
