nope straight out lie i just called today and the admissions officer (AO) said the updates were ALL randomized and anyone has a fair shot of being accepted/waitlisted/rejected until march 31st .
Guy there’s only three days left. Just hold on.
@cheungy8393 it’s not randomized though- each day is for one type of decision.

SAT: not great… lets just say 1250+
GPA: 4.03W
Lots of ECs, strong essays, 5 APs
Experience in teaching/TA, wrote an entire essay on wanting to teach.
Getting in is pretty easy… heard its over 60% chance.
Accepted to: UCSB, UCR, CSULB, SDSU, SJSU

It makes sense if the process is randomized & everyone still deserves a shot at being accepted, rejected, or waitlisted. I know UCI made their mistakes with acceptances last year but maybe they’re trying something new this year with their admission procedure? It wouldn’t be fair to say that last Friday was the only day acceptances were out and now, rejections & waitlisted are the only news. Good luck to everyone! HANG IN THERE! I’m still panicking as much as all of you!

@SmartGurl17 yes. yes it is randomized. don’t take just what a small chunk of ppl say on one college confidential forum and think they “all” got waitlisted/accepted on a certain day. i 1000% guarantee i personally called and CONFIRMED that YES-- it is completely randomized using their generator and to quote the AO, “we can’t send our over 100,000 decisions on the same day, so we split it up equally so around the same amount of ppl get notified of their admission status in the days leading up to the 31st.”
dont give up hope guys! i hope we all get in, and even if some of us dont (including myself), know that everything happens for a reason

@oopsycorgi people have been getting acceptances on monday too. But yea I’m on the same page as you. I don’t think they released all their admissions yet
@cheungy8393 It’s amazing how bad UCI’s system is compared to others lol. Others easily released 100k+ decisions on one day.

Yeah yesterday was not all waitlists by the way guys. some of my friends from my old school just got the email today during the morning to check their portals and they got in from monday’s decisions.
@EatMyAnteaterUCI honestly if it doesn’t end up working out… why not? if ur a cali resident u can always TAG and grind rly hard to go to UCI or honestly any UC u wanna go to by junior year (plus save hella $$$) there’s two sides to everything 
@cheungy8393 its actually cheaper for me to go to a UC than a cc lol. Blue and gold program + calgrant + pell grant = a few extra hundred dollars for me to spend on myself. Going to a cc leaves like $500 left for me to pay off.
