@lilacs2 In Irvine and much of OC, sales tax is 7.75% right now. LA is a little higher.
@meb1meb1 I’m talking about freshman and transfers.
sending y’all a virtual hug stay strong!!
@lowkeyveryhighkey You can’t mix transfer and freshman admit rates together as there are different methodologies, standards, and polices for the two admissions. The freshman only admit rate and applicant number is the best way to determine it.
@10s4life shall I give up on berkeley and irvine? :((
@lowkeyveryhighkey and also you can’t calculate the rate based on 116k applicants and 30k accepted target as the 30k is freshman only and the 116k is freshman + transfers. Again, it is more competitive than last year as are all the UCs down the line and selective schools across the country. Wishing every one a lot of luck and good thoughts as I know this is very difficult and hard to keep waiting for UCI to close their process and communications.
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 Don’t give up hope! It’s important to be realistic though. But anything can happen. No matter where you go you’ll enjoy the college your at.
@10s4life ucla was my dream college. at this point if I dont get into UCI, I’ll opt for CSUN! how’s that school? your thoughts and reviews are appreciated and helpful!!
I’m panicking
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 I don’t know much about the CSUs. Only sac state and SDSU. North ridge isn’t far from Ucla though
@10s4life any advice to transfer to ucla?
Same no update…
if not UCI, what’s your first choice guys? mention me and I’ll read your answers!
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 Probably UCR or Northwestern
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 probably UW Madison. If I get into UBC I will go there though Hbu?
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 Probably Chapman at this point unless I get into Berkeley or off of santa clara Waitlist
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 UCSD. Ruled UCI out.
@lilacs2 I do understand your frustration but I think you have some Misconceptions of the Uc system.
They are not legally allowed to use race in admissions and they DO have to publish their population afterwards. A southern CA school is going to have a hispanic and Asian population so it serves them well to reach out and offer support to those communities. They can recruit in heavier ethnic areas in good if increasing more diverse applications. That doesn’t mean they are breaking the law in admissions specifally taking an Asian kid over a white one.
The UC’s have almost no aid to give to anyone and they do NOT profess to meet full need. You can qualify for a cal grant through the state but the actual universities give very little. They have been increasing out of state admissions because they can charge 50k to those kids but within the state, they don’t really need to pay attention to who can pay and who can’t. They admit who they want and if you can’t pay. Well, you go elsewhere. They make no promises that you can afford.
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 If I get into Berkeley, then there. If not then it’s in between UCD or UCSB for me. What about you?
UCR or CPP
