@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 ^^ is right. It’s hard to transfer from a CSU to a UC. That’s why so many people choose CC. UCs admire more CC students.
they have State of California requirements to allow 1 transfer student in for every 2 freshman. Brown pushed this really hard this year when he held back $50M from the UCs budget for not hitting that mark
@grad2021 My son went to Chapman and graduated two years ago. He was a Business Finance major. He loved everything about Chapman. Their Business program is top notch and highly ranked. Easy to get classes, parking, great food, nice dorms, etc. If cost is not an issue I would pick it over Fullerton.
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 To go from a CSU to a UC (UCLA specifically here) is difficult in terms that you would at least need near a perfect GPA at CSU. And it harder becuase
CC transfers get 1st priority
UC to UC/OOS- get 2nd
CSU-third/last priority.
Gotta do your research before tsk tsk. CSU> CC for transfer is just wrong.
@orionary what?
@Overthinker22, Thanks for the info about Chapman. I got admitted to Business Finance major. If you don’t mind, can you tell me a little more as to how was classroom experience. I love at Chapman they have smaller class sizes and professors are more accessible. Does it have good career services for that help with internships and job placement?
@UCIfilm because I researched and I heard so many positive feedbacks on CSUN as a film school. Nothing is guaranteed whether if I attend a CC or a college, so I’m trying to make the right choice for now because the future is unpredictable. UCLA school of film is very difficult to get in. if I attend a CC my chances to get in can be slightly higher but still, it’s not a guarantee. if I attend a college from the CSU and transferring wont be successful, I can still remain in my college and earn a bachelor. if I go to a CC, I will be forced to go to a 4-year-college in order to complete my degree; sure, I can try and transfer to UCLA but what if it wont work? then I will have to find another college to transfer to and stress about it. In short, transfering to UCLA can be slightly easier from a CC than a CSU, but there’s no guarantee. I will try my best though. that’s my dream school and I can transfer as a junior or go there as a postgraduate. I just want to be happy and satisfied with my decision, all that matters is that I’m in a great college and I will do the rest :))
how does that sound? your thoughts are welcome, guys!!
@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 I know many people who have transferred into UCs from CCs. I don’t know anyone who transferred out of Cal State system into a UC (which is not to say it isn’t possible). If you really want to go to UCLA, you should see what film classes your local community college offers. It’s not that difficult to get a strong GPA at a CC then transfer to a UC. You will also save some money.
That said, my friend’s daughter is very happy at CSUN.
@heyigotnoclue please dont say that. I know it’s tought from the moment I got rejected too. What hurts the most I guess is all the hard work in all these years and all the effort we’ve put in our applications. It seems like the end of the world but it’s not I am sure of that.
I am faithful that you will attend a great college and remember that you can always transfer to UCI as a junior if that’s your dream school. dont get too discouraged and keep believing.
BERKELEY decisions ARE OUT!!!
I find it necessary to tell you that you are wrong in a lot of ways that aren’t your fault.
You have to look at this from a business perspective from the schools. Everyone wants a community college student because really no one has to share credit with a community college student that goes off and becomes successful. It’s easier to transfer because coming in as a junior you are saving everyone money and they have a better idea as to whether you have Thebes maturity for college work.
I attended Los Angeles City and Valley College for film and graduated with a degree in cinema production in 2015 from LACC magna cum laude. Never stressed about where I was going and ended up at UCI where I got my BA in Film and Media Studies.
No one is going to want a film major right out of college with no life or work experience and nothing really to contribute. Going to City developed my technical skills because they teach (so does valley) hands on film making. The instructors are human beings that have to work two jobs, especially for film that benefits you because a lot of my film instructors at the community college level either worked directly in the field or were ALSO teaching at the major universities in LA and were doing it for “the passion” (aka to make ends meet).
I learned more hands on filmmaking in community college, but more on theory and international methodology (and Spanish) at the university level. Plus coming in as a transfer you aren’t buying into the same mentality as everyone else because you came from some where else and made it.
You don’t need to attend a four year like UCLA, you just need to know someone that did. All you need is a network connection to start your career, your school doesn’t matter. It matters what you know, but if you can’t produce a result at the end of the day you aren’t contributing to anybody.
nooooooooo :(( berkeley :((
Wow anything can happen. Sister got into cal just now. Accepted to davis and waitlisted for SB and rejected from Irvine and LA. UCs will never be figured out.
rejected, lol
Ive only been waitlisted to UCSC and rejected to all other UCs.
Got into CSU Fullerton and rejected from SDSU
Shouldn’t have expected more with a 25 ACT
Holy $hit, my kid got waitlisted for UCSD and UCI and got rejected by UCLA, all for CS, but miracles do exist - he go accepted to Berkeley, for CS!!!woo hooo!!!
@ProfessorPlum168 Congrats! Haha Cal is a funny one. Similar situation in our family. No hooks, low test scores good GPA and good ECs but sister got in. Goes to show they are holistic to an extent. You should be very proud!
Thanks! He took so many L’s, - UCLA, Vanderbilt, USC, Northwestern…he was ready to give up and commit to UCSB…I think I know where he’s now going to go! He’ll free up his UCI waitlist soon…
guys I got into Berkeley! For those who got rejected from UCI (my OLD dream school) zot zot zot - more like not not NOT
Is it worth it to try writing a letter of appeal
