***UC Irvine Class of 2022 Applicants***

2018 was an odd year for UC for sure.

UCR- portal error, delayed for a few days.
UC Davis- weird acceptances
UCSD- delayed decision notification for a few days
UCLA and UCI- UCLA came out first
UCI- didn’t finish on time with UCSD and UCLA; coming out the same as UCSB

Only consistent: UCSC
UCB-???

Guys I understand what it feels like to have a dream school. I do too and mine is ucla :frowning: The more competitive the school is, the harder it is. Still, I think that having a dream school is something amazIng and something to be proud of. We need more seats at UC but remember that each applicants deserves to attend a great college

@orionary Cal announced decisions would come out 3/29 so they should be normal. What’s interesting is some admits get spring semester admission.

@10s4life which UCs are offering spring admits? Is that in lieu of waitlist?

@10s4life is there a relation for being accepted to many UC universities? If I didnt get into the most competitive ones, is there still a chance to be accepted by UCI or SB? I’m so depressed about my ucla rejection :frowning:

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 thanks, I chose nursing (huge mistake, I underestimated other applicants) but I also chose an alternative major which is biological sciences(another mistake bc it’s impacted). I don’t know what I was thinking, I guess I was too confident at the time. What about you?

@Julieanne916 No only Cal does

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 If someone gets into a lot of UCs then there is correlation to getting into others. This is usually because of high stats. Each UC is independent and you can get into one and denied to another even if the one you get into is “harder”. Don’t lose hope!

@coldtofu I chose film. That seems to be impacted as well. I dont know if I had done better by choosing ‘undeclared’ . At first I didnt think about that and I got straight to the point but honestly I dont think that would have been more helpful. UC’s are getting more competitive year by year and it’s getting harder to get in. i prefer UC’s over CSU’s so I hope I’ll get into UCI but I am feeling hopeless. These rejections make you feel like you are not worth it

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 Film is in TFT. That uses its own admission committee and requires a portfolio. Film is primarily based on talent and not necessarily grades. Undeclared would have been in L&S.

@SweetCaliforniaWeather-12 true it is getting more hard to get accepted but I’ve been telling myself ever since I got rejected from UCLA that rejection is redirection although it’s a bitter pill to swallow.

@10s4life are you talking about ucla?
I wrote really good essays and I have done everything that was needed for the supplemental application. i wrote a critical essay + an optional essay, wrote a personal statement and uploaded 2 letters of recommendation. Gpa : 3.5 sat : 1000 out-of-state/international ranked

Took the L from UCSD UCD and UCLA… I can’t take any more L’s

@coldtofu Did you apply to any CSU’s too?

I’m in the same boat as you. I’m so nervous for UCI, UCSB, and UCB. UCB is my dream school and now all my hopes are deteriorating :frowning:

Had my kid known that the first tier UCs were going to be this impossible to get in, he would have ED’ed to Carnegie Mellon or Cornell. Two of his classmates with similar stats got ED into those schools as CS majors. Oh well, another 3 days of lamenting until UCI and UCSB announce.

@oopsycorgi whatever is going to happen, all of us as applicants dont have to forget that we have been brave enough to try and put all our energy in these colleges. Many people wouldnt even dare to do that.

@ProfessorPlum168 UCB and UCLA are very hard to get into for even too students and can no longer be considered anyone’s safeties. Near perfect SATs are regularly denied from Ucla Engineering. It’s just how competitive they have been for the past 3-4 years.

Do the UC’s care if you’re instate or out of state or international?
