@crystallight wow! That’s amazing! If you don’t mind me asking - were your daughter’s stats really good or did she have really good essays, etc. ?
What is the best thing about UCSD?
Smartgurl17 , the environment is pretty stunning there. Super nice campus
guys, UCI is my last shot rn . Im actually pretty nervous about this. Any help or thoughts would be appreciated!
APPLIED FOR CS and my alternate is BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES

WEIGHTED GPA- 4.05
4 YEAR VARSITY ATHLETE

Also I think I wrote some pretty good essays
There’s something neat about a school full of super smarties like UCLA/Berkeley but without the focus on sports and athletes. Safe campus and proximity to one of America’s most beautiful cities @SmartGurl17
I don’t know if someone has already put this in here but, “A Note to Undergraduate Applicants Attempting to Check their Admission Status: The UCI Office of Admissions have not completed their review of all undergraduate applications. They will start sending decision emails after March 20, so please check back when you receive the email.” I saw this on twitter and the screenshot is from out.uci.edu, so seems legit.
Is there any hope for me to get into UCI/UCSB as a chemistry major?
Unweighted gpa - 3.89
Weighted + capped UC gpa - 4.19
Sat - 1380
Meh EC, decent essays
Waitlisted - UCD, SLO
Accepted - UCSC
Rejected - UCLA(expected)
@dpkrcy your stats are better than mine and you might get in for bio science but since your first choice is CS…im not too sure :/. im sure you already know how nutty competitive CS is.
@MrAirbender you have really good scores and higher than mine. You got into UCSC and that’s great! You could even get into UCI if you got into UCSC I guess. UCSB is a bit more competitive so we cant tell. Each campus is different and they weigh many factors so I wouldnt know. i hope I’ll get into UCI since I didnt get into more competitive UC’s schools but I got accepted to Csun
Does choosing “Undeclared” as an alternate major make it easier to get into UCI?
Absolutely not, Undeclared is one of the most competitive majors iirc
@UCIfirstchoice it doesnt make it any easier
Every single uc I applied to I chose undeclared in the science field, and was accepted into every one of them, even UCLA. And yes, I don’t know what I want to major in yet, but love science. UCI I Put undeclared first major, and alt as pharmacuetical (idk if that’s how you spell it, oh wells).
Some of my friends got into UCSD by putting Undeclared even though their stats are much worse than the average. They did not have that much ECs so I feel like choosing undeclared makes it easier…
Also I was rejected by all UCs so far so I want to believe that choosing undeclared makes it easier to get in haha.
UCI is the my last hope.
ugh i got into SLO, ucsc, and sdsu but i was waitlisted at ucsd and ucla. im sooo nervous abt Irvine and Santa Barbara SB is my #1
Idk if undeclared is easier but I haven’t gotten accepted to a UC so far under CS-type majors sucks that this is what I want to do with my life haha
Everyone wants to do computer science and I was told when I was younger that it wasn’t that popular haha now I don’t even know where I’mma end up because of choosing that major :’(
I know it’s really late, but can someone chance me please?
UC GPA: 3.78
SAT: 1510
ECs: 4 years of choir w/ consistent solos, 3 years of Mock Trial with 2 on the A-Team, blog writer for a nonprofit that helps women get back on their feet, youth and government for 1 year, worked a job for a while, and then volunteered in a rural farm in India one summer to teach kids English. I also got the National Merit Commendation for being in the top 3% of PSAT takers.
MAJOR: Undeclared (Social Sciences) with an alternate in Undeclared (General)
Also, idk if this really matters, but I was born in Irvine and then moved.
ESSAYS: Pretty good, but I’m nervous because I talked about how I was going through some mental health issues when I was 16 and overcame them to be a better person, and I heard that some colleges see that as a “liability”???
I’m literally so nervous for this, UCI has been my dream school since I was little…
EDIT:
ACCEPTED: UCSC, University of San Diego, ASU’s Barrett Honors College
WAITLISTED: CalPolySLO
