@cy7878: Hi. What is the overall feel for UC Irvine, just in terms of academic prestige? Reading online, I’m understanding about how it’s in a suburban area and has some commuter aspect to it and that the social aspect can have its challenges. (But that school spirit and social have been on the up and up.) But what about just strictly academics? Is it even with UCSD? Just behind it? Wondering overall and also specifically for computer science. Coming from Texas, would it be fair/make sense to compare UCI to, say, UT Dallas (rather than big name UT Austin)? Or is that not comparable—is UCI “better” than a UT Dallas-type school. Also…we would be paying OOS tuition. Thanks.
