yep my D24 received today as well!
D24 got it too and while it seems interesting, I’m not sure if she would want to start college abroad and then later have to adjust to the actual UCI campus. Will there still be housing available when she comes back from the quarter abroad?
If you a read about the Program, housing is guaranteed for students returning for winter quarter.
Planning for your return will start in the fall through virtual appointments. You will meet with UC advisors and enroll in your winter classes while abroad. UC campus housing is guaranteed upon your return, so there’s no need to spend time finding accommodations for your return. You will be fully supported by campus staff before and after your return.
My son didn’t get portal from UC irvine only. I wonder UC irvine maybe not interested in my son’s application. He submitted application October 24, very early . It is weird.
He has checked his Junk/SPAM folder since it should have been sent out by December?
To log into your UCI Applicant Portal, you must activate your UCInetID. Your UCInetID is your key to many online services at UCI.
UC’s will review all applicants so they will send Applicant portal setup information to all students that apply.
What is my UCInetID?
Your UCInetID is your username at UC Irvine. It consists of a 3-8 letter combination of your first and last name. For example, Peter Anteater’s UCInetID would be panteat. A UCInetID is not a Student ID Number or an Application ID which consists of all numbers. In order to be able to login with your UCInetID, it must first be activated.
If you forgot your UCInetID:
- Visit Forgot my UCInetID
- When prompted, enter the email address that you used on your UC application.
- Select the button “Send me my UCInetID”. Your UCInetID will be emailed to you shortly.
2. How do I activate my UCInetID?
Visit https://activate.uci.edu to get started. In order to successfully activate, you need 3 pieces of information:
- Your UCI Student ID Number, which is 8 digits in length
- Your birthdate
- The last four digits of your social security number
- Note: If you do not have a SSN, leave this field blank or use whatever number you entered on your UC application.
3. I forgot my UCI Student ID number and/or my UCInetID.
Your UCI Student ID# is 8 digits in length (as opposed to your UC Application ID# which is only 7). This number will appear on every email you’ll receive from UCI.
Your UCInetID is your username, which you’ll use to login to the Applicant Portal and other UCI web services. It’s up to 8 characters in length and will be a mix of your first, middle, and last name, and in some cases it will contain numbers too (e.g. panteate).
Please search your email for this number and your UCInetID.
- If you cannot find this email, please use our self-service tool to retrieve your Student ID# and/or your UCInetID: Request your UCI Student ID and UCI NetID
- If you’re still having trouble, please contact the OIT Help Desk. We’ll verify your identity and provide you with this information.
Thank you for information. But he didn’t get email obviously. He applied some schools so always checks even in spam folder either. Thank you. I also ask you . Many parents said that their students got email from ucla about applying scholarship. Most say that it is positive sign but my son didn’t get email . Do you think is it matter? Though my daughter became waitlist with scholarship email, i am very worried. But my daughter’s case , she didn’t apply scholarship application because she wasn’t interested in ucla. But my son likes . Scholarship application is more likely good sign?
The UCLA email was a mass email and has no correlation to a student’s admission chances. When you apply, they ask if you allow them to share your info with third parties. It could be that those who didn’t receive the email opted out of sharing their information.
This is what was stated on the scholarship email:
Please note that this invitation to apply for these scholarships does not constitute an offer of admission nor does it infer any likelihood of admission.
There is a section on the UC application that all applicants can mark if they are interested in scholarships so your student may have not marked this section.
Scholarships & programs:
You should select any and all scholarship categories that apply to you (there’s no limit on the number of scholarships you can select). You can also indicate if you’re interested in the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), which provides support services when you’re at UC.
Thank you.
Admitted Students Day has been scheduled for April 20th. Information can be found on this link: Celebrate UCI | Office of Undergraduate Admissions | UCI
Thank goodness it isn’t the 13th!
I was thinking the same thing. Just waiting for UC Santa Cruz and their admitted student event day.
UCSC changes it up. They don’t always have just one admitted student day.
Maybe dumb question, but can you attend Admitted Student Day if you haven’t accepted admission yet? I realize that’s cutting it pretty dang close to May 1, lol, but just curious. We’re OOS and haven’t visited yet.
Never mind, lol, probably can’t wait till 4-20 to see campus, ha ha. Or wait that long to decide where she wants to go.
The intent of admitted student days is to showcase the campus and programs to students who are deciding which school to attend.
Okay, thank you. Just tough, only 10 days from decision day. Trying to figure that one out.
Please discard
@sarah_p1 I believe this was already posted somewhere else on College Confidential, but the SIR date for all UCs (and CSUs) extended to May 15 so that would be more time than the original SIR date of May 1. Hello All - My daughter is on the waitlist (2nd person) for the school Phd program for Bioengineering, is there a way that we can find out if the class is full ? and what can she do to get off the waitlist?
Thank YOu,
@cy7878: Hi. What is the overall feel for UC Irvine, just in terms of academic prestige? Reading online, I’m understanding about how it’s in a suburban area and has some commuter aspect to it and that the social aspect can have its challenges. (But that school spirit and social have been on the up and up.) But what about just strictly academics? Is it even with UCSD? Just behind it? Wondering overall and also specifically for computer science. Coming from Texas, would it be fair/make sense to compare UCI to, say, UT Dallas (rather than big name UT Austin)? Or is that not comparable—is UCI “better” than a UT Dallas-type school. Also…we would be paying OOS tuition. Thanks.
