High schools
My daughter also hit accepted to UCI and rejected UC Davis. And we are also local in Irvine. Which is why she doesn’t want to go here. Sigh….
Oh. I cannot say about school name. If someone from our high school may be here . My children are all valedictorian in their school. And the school sends claremont schools rarely. Our school is in orange county CA. 6~7 students get in UCLA and 2~3 students go to uc BERKELEY every year and 10 students get in UCSD or UCI . Top 2~4 students go to ivys or top 20 schools. Sometimes a few get in Caltech or MIT
I grew up in Fountain Valley and I get why you daughter feels that way. But are you open to letting her dorm? That may shift the balance.
We are now in SD and told son if he goes to UCSD, he will still dorm (I actually want him to) and between being able to come home, poss of still hanging out with friends and having access to his car, he actually doesn’t think (assuming he gets in) SD is bad idea…
Has anyone in Nursing Science or any admitted students received a Regents/Chancellors Scholarship offer or email yet?
There was one post on this discussion about a kids friend receiving UCI Regents.
My daughter was admitted Humanities/Undeclared and received a Regents Scholarship.
Would you mind sharing his stats? Thank you!
He is top of 3500 in whole district ( 5 high schools and 1 homeschooling high school in district) . We wrote SAT score in additional information ( 1580) . 5 5.5 in AP exams. He didn’t write other 3s, 4s
He didn’t do well APs .He never took AP CS A. And he failed AP CS basic exam ( i forgot course name) because teacher didn’t teach anything in the class. He completed 18 APs and 4.0 unweighted and 5.27 weighted GPA . We didn’t calculate uc gpa but our school records separately uc gpa ( 10, 11th) . It was 5.4. College forign language 2 years.
He worked 2 years in construction labor in summer vacation and did internship 1 year in finance office. A lot volunteer works .
Great stats but I’m a little confused cause you said he failed a class. How come he is still able to get 4.0 unweighted gpa? Did he do a retake of that class? Also I thought weighted gpa is out of 5.0?
UC Uncapped weighted GPA is out of 5.0. Maybe a typo?
I see. Thanks for the clarification.
He didn’t fail class. He failed exam ap CS p?
Got it. I misread.
Our school system . If you take 5 AP or honor class . It is 5.0 because it is added .2 each honor or ap class.
If i take one honor, my gpa is 4.2 .if i 2 honor or aps , my gpa 4.4 .
But if i add more classes from 5.0 then added 0.03 ( i am not sure but i calculated myself) then 5. 03( one semester) and 5.06 ( two semester). Our school district uses this system.
I explained below. I didn’t use UC gpa but i know only school gpa
We actually wanted to go ivys but we changed mind little bit. Because CS is great job for AI and we were provided dorms 4 years . And honors program. And it is near our home.
Did you understand my school system? I attached pic above
Yes looks like every school system is different. Mine only goes up to 5.0 max and my freshman year I can’t take any AP classes so 4.0 was max. I thought you were talking about UC weighted gpa so I got confused.
