I think my nephew heard back in late june/early july last year. But by then, he already set his mind on another school and didn’t take the offer.
Technically, they have until the week when school starts to notify you… Which sucks considering UC (except B) doesn’t start until last week of September.
From what we had looked at a couple of years ago, UCI is slightly better academically, but UCSB is still very good. College atmosphere at UCSB is way ahead of UCI.
Waitlist decisions will posted when spots open up. If there are a large number of admitted students that decline their admission before May 15, then they could pull from the list. Normally, expect after the SIR deadline and sometimes well into July.
Any other waitlist questions should be addressed on that specific discussion.
Correct, CHC is the honors program. My D22 was offered CHC, but passed on it. She learned that by coming in with so many credits due to AP classes, she is already classified a year ahead and gets priority for registration (e.g. for a 2nd year BioMedEng class, she gets priority over 2nd years because she is already considered a Junior due to AP credits). She has not had any issues getting her desired classes.
Oh. That’s good news. I never knew about UC system.
I don’t know either because my step daughter studied at UC berkeley ( she got all 5 at AP exam , some got perfect score at ap exams. And she works now at mckinsey but she graduated after 4 years. And my daughter studies also in top college but her 5 on ap exams are not quite useful at top college. So i didn’t know about it.
I want to hear back from other’s opinions that uci cs ( chc program ) or ucla ( econ and business.
You are really comparing very different things here. One is Computer Science and one is Econ/Business. Very different majors with different major requirements. Do not assume he can go to UCLA and change majors to CS because unless he can finish first year with 3.8+ taking engineering level math/physics along with engineering majors, he will not be able to switch. Non-CS majors may also not be able to take CS classes due to registration restrictions, so even if he is able to transfer in (odds are slim) he will still be behind.
Does he want to do CS? If so, UCLA will not be good.
This is a crossroad and good luck with whatever he decides.
Instead of posting the same question on both the UCSB and UCI threads, it would be better if you started a new “Help me decide” thread in College Search & Selection.
Hi,
I have a question about UCI. I recently got admitted into UCI as a pharm sci major and I’ve been taking dual enrolled classes at a community college but two of the courses I had planned to take this semester had been canceled due to low-enrollment so I wasn’t able to take it. I had registered for it prior but when it came time because of this issue, it was removed from my list of courses I registered for. Would this affect the status of my application to UCI, I had taken a lot of science courses to the point of a lot of credit overflowing. The courses were Pirincples to Chemistry II and Medical Terminology.
Thank you!! I already contacted them about it through my portal Im just worried about it affecting my overall admissions. I just needed that piece of mind but will it necessarily affect my status and get it rescinded?
My older son (class of 2026) also got accepted to all UCs he applied to but not Berkeley. He’s happy at UCLA CS now. My younger one is applying and got in to UCI but waitlisted at UCD. We’ll wait for other UCs and other schools. Hoping he would be able to join his older brother at LA but not counting on it.
My daughter,22 admitted to UC Berkeley with a SEEDS scholarship, found herself waitlisted at UCLA. Most students from our high school typically got accepted to UCLA or UC Berkeley, with all (100%) these students were accepted other UCs like UCSD and UCI in previous years. Most top of class but waitlisted students from our school were quickly accepted to UCLA before May. However, my daughter decided to withdraw her waitlist status as she received admission to one of the Claremon schools.
