UC IRVINE Fall 2020 Transfer Thread

See you guys tomorrow. Glad we can share the stress here. I knew I wouldn’t come today but I still kept checking my portal. Can’t help being anxious

I am just so surprised that most if not all CC’s give so much guidance and set-up pathways and articulated courses to make it so much simpler to transfer while most 4-year schools don’t even know where to begin to help someone transfer anywhere else! Pretty disappointing but I hope we all get good news soon enough

@hannahcastilllo Well think about it. Four-year universities don’t help us with transferring because we’re in a four-year. They wouldn’t think we would need to transfer. With CCs, students need to transfer because they want to finish their four-year college experience. Even if we can’t transfer, we’ll still have a school for back up, whereas CC students don’t

did your friend report or explain the missing class on his apps? i didnt explain anything so idk if im screwed

@fashionista99 yes I totally understand that and I’m glad CC students get that guidance! I believe it just makes it hard for those who do have to transfer from a 4-year for whatever reason. I want to go into school guidance counseling actually for my career and just think that students regardless of being at a 2-year or 4-year should have more guidance/insight on the transferring process

@hannahcastilllo I totally get you on that. It is wonderful to see that CC students are able to get that support. I do wish that 4-years can give that as well

@fashionista99 I think four-year schools generally want to keep their students at the original institutions which is why the schools do not offer transfer help centers for students wanting to transfer out. In addition, I have found that most schools with smaller transfer populations offer much less structure to the transfer experience than UCs do through the community college system. I’m not sure what the solution is here as I understand both perspectives…or like the five perspectives in the situation.

@brightplaces Haha don’t worry. I understand both perspectives as well. It makes sense

No but also it was a requirement that took effect very recently so maybe that’s why he was admitted. Maybe if you found it earlier I would’ve mentioned it in the Additional comments section

You guys - There’s no rule that states Irvine releases decisions before 5PM.

Last year, my classmate got their decision at 9:30PM & another got their decision at 11PM.

Any dance majors on here?

@NonTradtional you can’t blame these poor guys desperately waiting for a decision because we all say there since 4 refreshing our pages on April 2nd all the way through the 10th…

Though it’s true that you aren’t guaranteed to get it before 5

True but it’s pretty common from past years that the beginnings of most waves/batches of decisions begin rolling before that, which is why it seems like a norm and we wait for that time period. Mostly just waiting on the second wave.

Who is a TAG applicant that hasn’t heard back yet?

@carassius001 go back to sleep it’s late :))) jk. regular applicant here, but there are some tag still here who hasn’t heard back yet either .
