there’s only one cc near me that has the class but i believe the cc opens the course like once a year or sometimes even not at all. the college is planning to shut down the course in the near future bc the class is barely running on 8 students out of 32. besides that, other cc’s are pretty far away, ur looking at an hour of driving and thats with no traffic.
I Tagged Criminology, Law and Society. Have not heard back yet. I’m hoping that my TAG, didn’t get denied. But there’s no real way to find out. I tried reaching out to admissions and they just kept saying that when there is a decision, the portal will update 
Then I wouldn’t worry about it. I also know a CC about more than an hour away and they offer slightly more courses than my CC does but I was still accepted. I think they mean if it’s in the same city or like it’s 15 minutes away then you should take it
anyone here trying to transfer from a 4-year to UCI? i’m (hopefully) transferring from a private just a few mins from UCI and i had absolutely no help in the application process and i’m wondering if other 4-year applicants had the same issue :-/ also, is the regents scholarship for transfers only for transfers from a CC?
@hannahcastilllo Yes. I am trying to transfer in from a CSU. I have gotten accepted into a better CSU though so if I don’t get into UCI then I guess I will live.

im also trying to transfer from a 4-year private in california.
ok hear me out here. they did offer it this spring semester but it was so out of the blue bc they did not even offer it for the previous summer and fall semester. also the class is on semester system and its (time) conflicted with my physics class which is way more important so I did not have the chance to sign up. do u think they will hold that against me?

I have had some help during the application process by going to my local CC and getting help there. I have taken a few classes there, so I technically have a student ID there as well and it was easier to make an appointment with counselors and transfer services. I have also called UCI Admission counselors for help when it applies.
@hannahcastilllo Hey I am also trying to transfer from a CSU. I got absolutely no help from my CSU for transferring, as they told me to contact the school I wanted to transfer to. I’m glad to see someone else went through the same problem tho.
This is my opinion: the thing about not taking a recommended or required class…it can definitely be used against you because there are only so many spots for your major. If they have others who have similar stats, and are similarly good candidates, and they took all the classes, they would probably choose that person over you. Now, if by “will they hold it against me” you mean “will they look at my application and throw it in the trash,” no, I don’t think they will. It’s about being competitive, and how you measure up against everyone else. This is just my opinion…because it seems unfair to people who live in more remote areas where there is only one CC, and the CC has fewer offerings. I’m sure they make allowances for those situations. I don’t know how they would judge which situations fit that scenario.
yyeah thanks for sharing btw. i live in the bay area so its def not a remote area but the majority of the college near me do not offer the class. ive seen a lot of engineering students in the past who were in the same position as mine where some of the engineering classes are not offered and still got in. its not difficult for me to take the class but getting a hold of the class is pretty hard. i also heard that its normal for engineering students who transferred to UCI to take an extra year and finish their lower divs bc their cc’s do not offer those required classes.
If that’s the case I think you’re fine. I know someone who did that and was still admitted.
Any chance we hear anything today? Or are all signs pointing to this Friday?

Better to have low hope for today to avoid the same tragedy from yesterday lol.
I am not 100% sure. They are known for rolling their admissions painfully slow. I know it has been confirmed that Friday UC Berkeley should give decisions and UCD is speculated for tomorrow. I am really hoping I hear by the end of the week because my friend knows she got into UCI and I am still waiting to hear back if I have. Alas, we just gotta let admissions take their time. It is crazy right now.
It’s either tomorrow or Friday I’m guessing. No hope for today. I just hope it’s this week.
No kidding, I’m going crazy checking this portal every 5-10 minutes, it’s the first and last thing I do everyday as of late, check the portal LOL.
