I got accepted to UC Davis and UC Irvine, but I chose Irvine over Davis. I have some second thoughts about going to UC Irvine. Is it hard to transfer from one UC to another after a year? And do UCs still accept mid-year transfers (transfer from one school to another during winter quarter)?

Is there anyway you can still accept UC Davis’s admission? If not, it’s not that difficult if you are an entering freshman and want to transfer to UCD from UCI. However, you must spend 2 years at UCI before actually transferring because you must meet the 90 credit requirement (or you really got to bulk up on credits). You would send your application in November 2011 and if you are admitted, you will start Davis Fall 2012.

I don’t believe Davis accepts winter quarter students anymore.

Why exactly are you having second thoughts about UC Irvine?

My parents really pushed me towards going to Irvine, but I’m not happy with this decision. UC Irvine is a great school, but I’m not excited to go. I would LOVE to go to UC Davis, and it was my first choice of college.

Well, what’s the difference to your parents if you choose to go to Davis after 2 years instead of right out of high school? Will they even “allow” you to transfer from UCI to UCD?

Yes they will let me transfer/ go there this fall. I talked to them and I would have to take out a small loan to pay for it.

contact UCD admissions and ask for an extension on the deadline, accept your SIR there and cancel your SIR at UCI.
