<p>I applied to UC Merced (and was granted admission) for the Fall 2010 term. When Merced reviewed my application they noticed that I did not complete the a-g requirement, in particular, the Visual and Performing Arts section. I took one term of theater and one term of ceramics. At the time my counselor said this was fine and it would satisfy the UC requirements. When my college reviewed my transcript they told me that I was supposed to take one yearlong class, back in high school. So they are telling me that I need to complete a VPA class at my community college and I would be granted admission for the spring term, which is four months later. I contacted my high school after, and my school principal, is writing a letter to UC Merced taking full responsibility for the mistake of my counselor and asking that I be granted admission for the fall term again. Along with her letter, I am also attaching my appeal letter as well. If anyone has been in this situation before or just is knowledgeable about these sorts of situations, please offer some helpful advice.</p>
