UC Merced ranked the lowest

Merced is the #1 for poverty in California, so iMerced University is for the poor minorities who can’t afford better quality education like UC Davis, UCLA or Berkelt. The jobs pay less, because it’s in Merced and it’s the poorest county in California, it’s mostly for poor minorities getting off the welfare, but the jobs don’t pay off in the long run, when it comes to having children and have to pay for baby sitting, you might as well not have any children, you’d be better off on welfare, especially if you stay in the valley. You need to commute, but once they see you went to UC Merced they look at it like its welfare to work.

I meant Berkely

And what is the purpose of this post? Do you actually have a question?

I agree what is the purpose of this post other than bashing a perfectly respectable university. Even if you may not feel UC Merced is for you, there is no reason discourage others from attending.

FYI I am a product of one of these poor welfare families.

I didn’t go to Merced, a very good university, it didn’t exist when I was applying to universities. I had the same experiences most poor minorities have had, and, if anything, my degree got me OUT of a poor financial situation. I had children and I paid for their child care. There is no way going on/ staying on Welfare was a better option than using my degree! (I was in a two-parent family with a US Army vet Dad, who had trouble getting a permanent position, so, we were poor. He wanted to work; he didn’t want to be on welfare.)

Was this post meant to be an insult to:
1.) The university and Merced students?
2.) The UC system?
3.) People on welfare, who happen to be minorities?

Very tacky and ill-informed.

While you’re acting all superior, learn to spell Berkeley.

This thread is insane. Anyone who can afford Merced can afford the other UCs…they cost the same. And just because someone graduated from UCM doesn’t mean that they will only get jobs in that county.

Merced is a fine school. Period.

And learn how to spell Berkeley. smh

You’re honestly messed up. I got accepted into UC Berkeley but chose UC Merced, instead. Annoying people now days are so judgemental.

Lol what are you talking about. UC Merced might be the least prestigious of the UCs but that’s still a very good bunch.
