I got into both UCSD and UCM, both are offering me a good financial aid package, in UCM I am majoring in Bioenginerig and in UCSD I am majoring in pharmaceutical chemistry. I like both campuses but the only thing that is different from UCM is that they are offering me to be in a program where they help me in my first year, since I am a first generation. Also I am scared that I won’t be able to maitian a high GPA in both majors. I love science and I am top 10 in my class but I don’t know which would be a better choose.
Thanks fro reading!
UCSD has a similar program for First gen: http://sixth.ucsd.edu/student-life/first-generation-students.html
Pick the school where you feel most comfortable. Happy student= successful student
UCSD has a ton of resources and support for first-generation college students as well as first years. It’s also significantly more academically rigorous, and closer to a full-scale research university. Merced is still a young, growing campus. If you have the chance to visit both schools, do so; if you don’t have that chance, I’d say go to UCSD.
