so i was wondering i my personal statement is good? its done yet i just wanted to know what you think

prompt 1
Growing up wasn’t easy for me. I was the second oldest and the only boy out of two sisters. My mom and dad didn’t pay attention to me that often so I was pretty much on my own growing up. I was never the center of attention when it comes to awards, good grades, or something that would make my parents proud of me. Having an uptight mom and an easy going dad was not a perfect environment for growing up. I need parents that would support me, discipline me when I need it. Since I was in elementary school when report cards came out I would always have my heart crushed. Hearing my mom saying “why did you get one C, look at your sister she has A and Bs”, no matter what I do its never good enough for her. So I thought to myself “what’s the point of going to school if I’m never going to be happy of myself”. I had only a few people that I’ve looked up to, my cousin Ivan. Ivan was my oldest cousin and he really impact in my life.

This is too pessimistic, and criticizing your parents will not look good. I’d suggest you focus more on what you did to improve your situation, and on Ivan.

Agreed. College admissions expect you to be self-disciplined and to be upset yourself about earning a C. Once in college, no one is going to make you the center of attention or force you to study. Complaining about your parents will come off very poorly.
