lets say that i’m applying to many UCs, and i declare different majors for different UC, but they’re all in the same field…for example…UCLA for molecular biology and Berkeley for Integrative biology…how would I write my personal statement in response to the major question? Should I just generalize as a bio major or wut?..thanks…

I would generalize as a bio major; if you start being specific and naming all the types, you will fill up the word limit fast

This is tricky and I’m kind of stressing about the same thing, except for my alternate major. My suggestion is to discuss what about biology in general interests you(directed you torwards the major, etc). Within that, you might want to mention specific interests in the field. This should cover your bases fairly well.

I wouldn’t really focus on the specific major but what you want to do with a biology degree I think the questions asks: HOw did your interest in the field develop: this statement is pretty general so it leaves room to talk about where you are going as far as your caeer goal with a biology degree.

should all the essay questions be answer wit an anecdote to start out wit? I can’t really tell a full story wit the 200 words questions?

just say a word that encompasses the field u want to study. if integrative bio at berkeley include mol bio, then just say molecualr biology. that is general enough, and the person reading ur app will know what ur talking about.

I’ve decided to apply to UCLA as a biochemistry major and Berkeley as an integrative bio major. I’m generalizing my personal statement and I want to know if biochemistry falls into the category of biology or chemistry or both?
