UC Programs

If you get into one UC, does that mean you can take courses from let’s say,… Berkeley?

Let’s say you are a student of Santa Barbara.

Only during the summers as far as I know.

Of course not… that’s why you apply to one UC at a time!

Actually, yes, as far as I know, you can - and not just during the summer (I’ll try to find the information for you to prove it). But there is a limited number of units that you can take at other campuses. And you have to get permission to do it in advance.

That would be pretty difficult during the academic year. Not only is distance the issue, but also the fact that Berkeley runs on a semester system while most of the other UCs run via the quarter system.

I’ve never really heard of people taking courses at other UCs during the academic year, so I can’t really comment on whether or not it’s even possible at all…

Yup, not at all. You stay in your individual UC.

Why do people authoritatively give wrong advice on this forum?

[University of California - Admissions](http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/beyond_camp/visitor.html)

“… if space is available.” Last time I checked, all the UC’s were overenrolled. I’m not sure it’s going to be as easy as that sounds.

I’m guessing it’s intention is targeted more at upper division students with more specialized majors rather than a liberal arts lower division student for example, but either way, the program is there.

nope. Just as RC said, intercampus program. Also, for the summer you can take it at any other UC. However, if you get financial aid, i tihink u have to get it from your home university as the other university isnt going to give you any…, i think. And usually universities charge visiting students more than their own students. (=

You can over summer for sure
