when asking to “describe the world you’re from”, how crucial is it to include an anecdote? I find myself writing too much about the story itself and not enough on how it has impacted me and made me the person I am today.
Writing the anecdote is usually a good idea, otherwise it is all telling and can sound like a recomendation letter by yourself for yourself. I recommend that in the draft you write it out and your ‘how it impacted me’ part, then you edit in your rewrite. It is actually easy to cut stuff out after you see what you have.
