Hey this is my UC prompt that I am considering to submit. Note: I am not done! Thank you!
Prompt:Describe the world you come from for example, your family, community or school and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.

Six-thirty in the morning and my alarm rings with the soothing beats of the R&B and Hip-Hop that my favorite radio station plays. I sluggishly get out of my 1980s tempurpedic bed, brush my teeth and wash my face when I suddenly look at the reflection of my clock from the bathroom mirror. It was six-forty five and I was bobbing my head because that was when the radio played one song from one the best Bay area rap artist to have ever lived: Tupac Shakur. I listened to the crisp bass and his lyrically complex metaphors about his life and where he came from as I get ready for school. When the poem ends, I put on my rag-tag black and white converse and open the door into the unpredictable Bay Area weather. Every time I listen to one of Tupacs songs I always start my morning appreciating the Bay and how it has made me who I am.
I love learning about cultures and how they all intertwine and mingle with one another. From the inner city of Oakland to the suburbs of Castro Valley, a wide variety of cultures, traditions and norms are practiced. I may to go to a Cinco de Mayo festival in Oakland and experience the rich sounds of the mariachis trumpets and the tantalizing smells of the tacos de asada. Or, if I feel a little adventerous I may take the BART up to San Francisco and take bus seventeen to the Haight and Ashbury district. There I can browse the urban stores and listen to the finest in Bay Area hip-hop. Pushing my way through the sea of people, I window shop and brisk by the exhilarating street performers. Wherever I am in the Bay Area I take time to value the rich history and culture.
My community is truly a melting pot; my friends consist of a wide variety of races and ethnicities and they all have a different story to tell about their community. Nobody is considered an outsider and a minority because quite frankly we are all minorities. Minorities whose parents have crossed borders, fought, swam, even escaped their home country to have a little piece of the American dream. My generation is only trying to fulfill what are parents could not. We all have a stray and we all come together to make it a reality.
