UC proposes smoking ban on campus

[University of California students reflect on proposed smoking bans - Health and medicine - The Sacramento Bee](http://www.sacbee.com/2012/07/10/4619978/university-of-california-students.html)

Doubtful that would ever happen, especially at liberal schools like Cal…

@kirwin

Liberal schools are exactly where this would happen. Anti-smoking campaigns (in regards to cigarettes) are part of a generally liberal agenda. I hope (and believe) that Cal wouldn’t ban smoking - it seems like more of a hindrance than it’s worth - but I think liberal schools in general would be more likely to take action.

Heh heh, and I suspect that the same liberal agenda, in conjunction with a ban on smoking tobacco, would likely and ironically also support the repeal of the ban on smoking marijuana.

^Well, marijuana is not physically addictive, unlike nicotine, and there is no clear scientific evidence that marijuana is carcinogenic (some studies show that marijuana is carcinogenic, some studies actually show that marijuana has a anti-carcinogenic effect, most studies show no effect). Marijuana can be psychologically addictive, though, in the same sense that video games can be psychologically addictive.

So, as a liberal, I don’t really care about marijuana.
