I received a D in ap calc for the first semester senior year. This is unlike my performance, as I am a mostly A/B student,. I am currently waitlisted at UCI, and am unsure if it is the best time to report now, or after i get an admission IF i get off the waitlist. I currently have an A in the class right now, and am retaking the first semester through BYU. Please inform me of what I should do…
I know, I’m just too scared it’ll ruin my chances at UCI, so if there is anything else I could do instead, like wait, show them my improvement, and explain the deficit in the first place, they may not rescind, still unsure though.
Follow the directions that the schools give you. It’s really that simple.
Even if a school didn’t give directions like the UCs do, I encourage you to give them a heads up about the D. Including the school where you intend on making an enrollment deposit by May 1.
Tell them you are remediating the D with the BYU class which ends on X date. Good luck.
UC’s do not rescind until final transcripts are submitted since they will give you the benefit of trying to remediate that 1st semester grade. UCI does not ask for any additional information such as 1st semester Senior grades to opt into the waitlist so it is not a condition for being admitted from the waitlist.
you need to follow the UC after you apply guidelines by reporting the D to UCI and any other UC campuses you have applied that accept updates. Being proactive will help vs. waiting until the last minute to notify the schools.
