UC Riverside Transfer Fall 2016

All that talk about math is making me want to vomit

Yea I’m not looking forward to that Precalc part either - which is why a UCI offer would be appealing to me - since all they require is a Statistics class for their BA Psych majors.

Exactly! Irvine or Davis for me. Both don’t require anymore math.

alright guys I’m tripping out and I need some help lol. I just found out I was dropped from my speech class because I didn’t log into some related website or whatever. Anyways I was able to find a short term 3 unit sociology class to fill in for that 3 unit speech class so I still have 60units by the time spring is over. Who do I report this change to? And that speech class wasn’t a major requirement at all, just filler units to get that 60.

Email admissions. ASAP. Also report it on your tau

you think it’ll mess with my admission? Even if it isn’t like a major requirement?

@uchopeful414 I’ll be honest, even as a math major precalc was kinda not my favorite at the time lol it’s just all over the place and you learn so much disjointed random stuff. It can definitely be fun though! A lot of the stuff in that class feels like puzzle games like trig identities and matrix, partial fraction decomposition stuff

Have you taken business cal?

oh god the matrices, I still have nightmares >.> precalc was … certainly one hell of a course

@Intuitiveoblgtns you should try Linear Algebra, there are matrices EVERYWHERE! :-bd

Lol @LopApo yes. =D>

@LopApo The horror D: thankfully though, i’ll be done with math after this semester

@uchopeful414 - did you submit your SIR yet? I’m wondering how annoyed/tough it is to revoke/cancel a SIR to UCR if one of the other campuses end up accepting me.

Precalculus from the sounds of it isn’t something I’m looking forward to. Not sure why UCI doesn’t require it, but UCR does.

Yeah I put my sir in. But they said it’s as simple as just emailing admissions. That’s my plan if someone else wants to pick me up

Godddf math. I hate math so very much. Trying my best to get through stats. I plan to just be a Japanese global studies major. Why even math?

Got to be able to find the derivative of kanji symbols and apply it to matrices?

@umberial Same can be said about humanities courses. I’m going into accounting, why do I need to waste time taking classes in the arts? They want well rounded students which is the reason for the required foreign language course as well.

Well idk. You can use humanities anywhere in life. Hence the name HUMANities  chass prepares everyone to work and behave normally in society. Math just prepares you for aneurysms and heartache when you get a failing grade .-.

Hey are we having a CC meetup for Highlander Day?

I know enough math to take care if finances. However, I do not understand why higher level math is necessary. I have a math based learning disability and I have been put into a system that is literally set up to watch me fail. It is fine to be bad at humanities, but be bad at math? Wow, you’re an idiot then. Humanities are important in a very global sense. Math has specific focuses. Humanities had taught me much more about people, communications, and how to be a decent human being than math will ever do. Higher level math should not be a requirement if your career doesn’t involve it. There should be a math for life course.
