@dgrenas793 hey, congrats! You are the first global studies major I have seen. I am planning to double major in global studies after my first semester.
is a UC your first choice?
@umberial Hey! Hats off to you cause double majoring sounds intense!
yes, not because of the prestige but because of the fact that I qualified for a fee waiver with the UC’s, but not with the CSU’s, so I was hoping for at least one acceptance solely for financial aid purposes. I’ll most likely end up going to UCR
just waiting on a few other universities but UCR was my first choice since I have family there
Does anyone know how soon after an admissions offer the financial aid package becomes available?
@dgrenas793 haha it’s pretty cool huh.
I’m transferring as a psychology and biology double major, so my main focus is on the pathophysiogy of the physical body and the abnormal behavior of the psyche: so like, I’m like pre-med. and UCI offers “clinical” psychology in Psych. and Social Behavior, and UCR also offers psychology, but it’s not clinical–they do offer graduates classes that focus on the clinical ASPECTS though.
I’m okay with UCR if I don’t get in UCI tho; I was hoping any UC would accept me because of the blue and gold program that they have–which is basically the only way I would’ve been able to attend a university since my family is super low income.
Anyone here actually going to highlander day?
@thecuteoneishere so it seems as though UCI offers a psychiatric approach to it as well? That’s pretty cool, I’m not sure I’ve heard of too many programs like that.
To me the blue and gold basically seems like a fancier title for the Cal Grant basically. Cal Grant covers tuition, and Blue and Gold promises tuition will be covered so I think pretty much they’re the same thing. Maybe I misunderstood this though.
I’m planning on going to highlander day if I can get the day off
@dgrenas793 @thecuteoneishere it seems like you guys are in similar situations to me. I chose a UC because of the blue and gold plan too. Csu ‘s were nit offering nearly enough aid for me to go, local or otherwise.
Also for the financial aid package, it was available about a week after I got accepted.
I am going to highlander day! I’ my like 23, but dragging my old man along so he can see the school I want to go to.
Anyone else got their admission packet? It’s been 2 weeks and haven’t received anything.
I’m going on week 4 and still haven’t received anything @sachill
@futureeechick I thought it would take them 2 weeks. I guess I’ll have to wait another week. Thank you
@sachill Got my admissions packet lat week.
@umberial when were you admitted?
Yeah when. I was admitted on March 15.
I was admitted on the first of March. So with that in mind, it takes about 4 weeks it seems.
Yeah I was admitted on the third so I hope I get mine soon.
@umberial Yeah pretty much!
I actually ended up getting my financial aid package today! :o I was not expecting it to come so soon but it might be because I emailed them to ask but I got an email this morning saying it was ready. I got a REALLY good offer and plan to live with my sister so just waiting on a few details before I SIR
@grinchmeup I’ll be going. Gonna take a tour of the apartments, Rec center, Business hall, international studies office and then off campus apartments. Do we need some sort of Identification or is it enough to just RSVP?
I’m going but I have no idea what I’m going to do.
I am going. My dad can’t walk too much, so probably gonna do stuff, do the African student luncheon then probably home, depending.
I would like to go to highlander day, but I don’t know my way around.
@grinchmeup ha ha, no. He would be so confused. XD
Do they only give you the agenda after you sign up? Trying to get an idea for it but I haven’t registered for it yet
**Edit: Nevermind I was looking at the website from a mobile page but I found it now
