She received $30k with her ucsd acceptance? So awesome!
We just registered yesterday? Maybe check again?
I got admitted to the second choice major. Any chance, i could still be considered for first choice if space becomes open?
If your 1st choice major is Selective/Capped, then you would have to go through the change of major process to change majors. What was your Primary major?
CS. You’re right. Just confirmed with the admission office.
any scholarship news?
Nope. Wondering the same and anxiously awaiting.
I was admitted undeclared (originally applied for bioengineering). Would I have the option to “declare” multiple majors sophomore year or only one?
Yes, it was closed from the public website, but the admitted students can register via their portal.
Hello all! We’ve recently made a discord server for the co’ 28. If anyone is interested in joining, the link is: UC San Diego 2028
I think I read somewhere that scholarship info would be available March 30th? Does that sound right to anyone?
We didn’t hear any scholarship news. Anyone received the scholarship, please share with us? While the odds are low, scholarships help making decisions between couple UC campuses. Thanks!
Who’s going to Triton Day? D24 will be there.
Anyone? Bueller?
Can’t — we are OOS and have a conflict that day so are missing four or five of these days at various schools. I wish they had more than one or a scaled-down version for those who can’t make it.
Yes it’s definitely a tough needle to thread, especially bc so many schools have their only day on the 13th. Frustrating.
Hmm. Last year part of the admitted student event was offered virtually earlier in the week, but it looks like they aren’t doing that this year. Do they have admitted student tours?
UCSB does, but I didn’t see any for UCSD. I did see a couple of virtual offerings the week of, but I think visiting is key and just wanted to get the vibe of being around other admitted students.
Unfortunately, we happened to be in Cali when there was an admitted-student reception in our state! We’ll figure it out. Lots of great options. I just want the greatest to reveal itself
Has your student visited UCSD at all?
Some students don’t like the campus for various reasons (architecture, layout, separation from the city of San Diego), but my son really liked it and called me as soon as he got there, “Mom, this is the most beautiful college campus I have seen!” So I think students can have quite different strong views about it.
It was also really helpful for my son to meet and talk to students there.
Couldn’t agree more. I got strong office park vibes, but my daughter especially loved it. I do wish SD itself were closer, or at least that there was more “stuff” that felt right on or just off campus the way e.g. Ann Arbor does for UMich or Charlottesville does for UVA. Maybe it’s there on one side of campus or the other and we just didn’t see it.
D24 is staying on campus with a 1st year friend for a couple of nights around Triton day, so hopefully they’ll have a better sense for that.
