Still, I personally would not attend UCSD if becoming a CS major were a central aspect of my desire/plan to attend. If admitted CS students don’t leave the major in any meaningful numbers, there won’t magically be spots to transfer into, practically speaking.
I mean obviously if you want to attend UCSD no matter what, then go for it!
Hi @Gumbymom, my S24 got into the BioEngineering program and we are wondering what his options are for switching into other engineering nonCSE majors if he so desires? It seems almost every engineering major is capped at UCSD
You have to provide preference list for the college. How do students going for cs major pick their preferred college? What makes them choose a particular college over others
I don’t know about CS applicants in particular, but people look at the general ed requirements (which is the biggest difference) and themes/focus of the colleges; some look at the dorms (type, age, and location). But know that there is no guarantee that applicants will get assigned to their top choice college (or even top few).
